Paying sales tax on a vehicle has to be a big money maker for the State. Think how many times quite a few vehicles are bought and sold so tax is paid many times.

I'm pretty sure there is no sales tax on vehicles in ND. There is an excise tax which is different than a sales tax.

This must of just started as I bought a cross bow a few months ago and one sales pitch was no sales tax as they had no store in ND. db

it is because bass pro owns cabelas now... bass pro corperation also owns Mall Boats-R-Us "tracker" so because there is tracker dealers in ND, bass pro then has stores in ND and has to pay ND sales tax

It's called Nexus. Have more than just an online presence in a state and you'll have to collect sales tax. It's actually an old ND court case that went to the Supreme Court that defines Nexus.

Online sales have had an impact on state revenue which has to be made up somewhere else. 1st ND needs to get their spending in check and then by taxing online sales maybe we could reduce taxes across the board
we could start by taxing Montanan's

I have made dozens of orders online from Cabela's and have never been charged sales tax.

Correct there's no Cabela's, but now they are owned by Bass Pro Shops, who apparently owns property in ND, so the entire group (all companies associated with Cabela's and Bass Pro) will have to pay sales tax on ND sales.
