I always catch and release big fish. As I just applied for the Ndgf catch and resale. club have a few goals for the wall? 30" inch eye is one 20" samillie.. But my question being. The whopper club only list weight of the fish. Never the length. How do we get that changed? Email the g and f?

They had a catch and release whopper club that was in inches, if you need pieces of paper to acknowledge your achievements like a 1st grader. I once seen a guys wall who had every catch and release whopper pike he caught on the entire east side of his basement wall probably 50 certificates. To get a patch technically you have to keep it because in ND you aren't supposed to release a fish after you have put it in your livewell or transported it to get officially weighed.

I don't see anything wrong with whopper club programs. Not my bag but I don't look at fans as 1st graders.

When I read the monthly whopper list in the paper it would be nice to be able to compare fish lengths VS pounds from lake to lake.

If you need a piece of paper to go with your yamaca then it would be kosher I guess

I always knew I was a Master Angler, but it was damned nice for Manitoba to agree with me and award me a couple medals!!

Lincoln, kinda...
The Whopper Club patches are neat for young anglers. Once you've caught a few in life, the neatness kinda wears off for most of us. To date, I have only applied for a whopper patch on paddlefish, and that was quite a long time ago.

To each their own, I guess.

Pretty much sums it up for me as well. I think they were neat when I was a kid. My wife just caught a whopper rainbow and thinks it's kind of neat to get a cert and a patch.

The link above is for the whopper program and the C&R program.

I just get a 50 dollar participation slip yearly around april, the whopper club and C&R are good programs like the MA in Canada and such it builds interest and it gives a baseline for trophy fish in the state.

I do get excited about a nice fish. I'm 46 yrs old, and have been fishing for probably 40. I guess I try not to be blasé about it. I don't apply for every catch and release patch, or whopper club patch, but I don't denigrate those who do.

I am not a member of the whopper club. I have cough many fish that would qualify for this club. I use it more of a tool where to fish. I guess I'm a armchair biolugest.

I can't vouch for other species, but for smallies, the 3 pound minimum is way too small. I'd like to see that brought up to at least 4 pounds.

I'll second that. A long time ago the 3 lb minimum made sense. But there are a lot of fish way over that range and a lot more places to catch them versus 30 plus years ago when it started.
4 pounds is where it should be
