Auger...Off-Season Prep

I know we still have weeks of good ice fishing, but wondered what, if any, storage prep must be done for a gas auger? First season for me with the gas auger...just looking for some insight...thanks gents!

Normally I just run some seafoam through it. Since I got out so often this year, I think I'll dump the fuel and refill with fresh along with seafoam.

I run the gas out with seafoam, and fog the cylinder. Mine's over 15 years old and only thing I've ever had to do is change spark plugs once.

Dump what gas is left in the tank out. Start it up, let it run out of gas, then through it on the shelf. Have did it this way for around 25 years. No problems.

^^^^^^^ this is what i do never a problem. All gas I get for small engines get sta-bil right away.

Yep i Just run all my small engines out of gas at the end of their seasons. I usually run some sea foam in the last tank of gas, but not always. Also only use ethanol free gas in small engines.

Of all the advice, this is the most crucial. Unless a guy enjoys replacing all gaskets, rubber grommets, the diaphragm, and fuel line every year

I actually had my diaphragm dry up from running my auger out of gas. So now I just make sure there is new gas in it at the end of the year, mixed with sea foam, and I take it off the shelf and run it every couple of months during the summer. I do the same thing with my mowers and trimmer during the winter.

I'm in the "Store it full of fuel with no room for condensation to introduce water into the fuel" school of thought. Non-ethanol fuel with 1oz/Gal shot of Seafoam. Anything of mine that is fueled out of a gas can runs on non-ethanol and 1oz/Gal Seafoam all the time.

Fresh Non-ethanol seafoam treated gas, start it in the offseason every month or so. Dump out old gas for all new fresh stuff at the beginning of the season.

I always ran my jiffy out of fuel with no problem. My strike master I did that with one year and my carb dried out and leaked the next year for a couple days after I filled it up. Then it was good to go.

I've never run the fuel out of mine and I haven't had an issue.

I have abused my auger in the 25 years I have had it. Sometimes I pour the fuel out, sometimes I run stabile, sometimes I put ethanol based crap in it, sometimes it will just sit on its rack and get laughed at.... Sonsabitching thing just keeps on going.
My little Jiffy owes me nothing.

Never store with fuel in especially with the low quality gas we have now.

An argument can be made for both ways. I've dealt with gummed up carbs and dried out seals from both methods. Sometimes, stuff happens.

I started running tru fuel last year in my gas auger. I just stored it full and ran it a couple times in the off season.

Hol...TruFuel is what I have used in mine since day 1...no issues!

I run vp pre mix gas same thing as true fuel just different brand ran it for last 6 years put away as is full tank half tank or just about empty and just start and run 3 to 4 times in the off-season and have not had any issues......I also dump gas out and put fresh stuff in beginning of season. I don't know that I would have to beings the stuff is pre treated and is supposed to have a 3 to 4 year shelf life. It is spendy but worth it imo
