That's a whole haybale of awesome!
Weeellll with that segue in a thread with this title I thought I would throw this out there. Folks may not have heard a great deal about what has happened with the wild fires across the southern plains. Literally thousands of cattle have been burned and perished or had to be shot by the ranchers that spent their lives raising them. Some families have lost everything and three people lost their lives trying to save their livestock.
There has been an outpouring of help (haybales, fencing supplies, cattle cash) from various sources across the nation and the NDFB is putting together what is call the Dakota Cattle Drive 2017 to generate cash to send as that is the easiest to disperse how it is needed. Ranching families like mine across the state are donating a heifer to be auctioned off at local sale barns with the proceeds going to help these impacted families, and an account is being set up for those wishing to donate.
The stories and pics from here hit home but the one that impacted me most was the story a wife told of her husband and son that left to go shoot a couple cows they had found burned beyond saving, a short while later they came back as they had ran out of shells after finding more and more cattle and she described how her husband and son dealt with having to come back and get more shells as most all of their cattle had to be destroyed.
Anyways NDFB is putting together a means to help out a bit and if anyone is interested it would be great. just pm me and I can get the details when they come out. Thanks.
