Its so dry here the thistle and dandelions quit growing. Supposed to get an inch here in the next couple of days. Lets hope we get a little more than that. Some crop adjusters are already telling farmers to burn down the crops they have looked at with roundup to save the nutrients in the soil.
If that's the case, I'd desiccate later in the year. The growing crop will sequester the nutrients and prevent their loss, then mineralize the nutrients the following growing season. But when It's dry, not much N will leach or denitrify. However, the growing crop will prevent future dust storms and the biggest enemy to a weed is a growing crop.
