I'd say better to irk some folks than to have an inexperienced person try (under pressure) to attempt to assist. Damaged boat, trailer, etc. is worse than bent feelers.

10 minutes is a damned eternity at a boat ramp!

And for the record, I think its gotten WORSE at ramps in the last 10-15 years, and frankly everywhere in general. People have very little self awareness these days.
Just last week I had guy pulling a camper block the entire exit to a gas station while he waited for a pump to open up, another motorist trying to leave, politely went and asked him to pull ahead a bit so we could get by and he said he "wasnt going anywhere" I then went up and things got a little more heated before finally someone just stopped pumping gas and moved so that jerk could pull into a pump.

I have no idea what goes through people heads sometimes. Hell I get uncomfortable taking the time to put money back into my wallet after a cashier hands me change, fearing that I'm holding up the line behind me.

Here I thought I was the only one who would rather throw all the change in penny dish than take the time to stow it.

As far as boat ramp stories, I haven't been fishing for a walleye in so long, I'll be the jerk holding the line up. Then I'm going to pull out the checkbook, write the check, then BALANCE said checkbook.....

I went in and out of the water 3 times last weekend --- The speed aka slow boats were terrible. Taking forever to load. one guy actually put life jackets on his kids so that when they climb out of the boat onto the dock. Hello

I see exactly where you're going, that's why I still wonder about it sometimes. I figured at the time I'd rather piss the people off by doing that than wait in line and have the dock down to only 1 lane for 20 mins waiting. I can only imagine the ass chewing she would have gotten sitting there holding the boat the whole time I was in line. Would I do the same again? Tough call, don't have to worry about it anymore as she can now drive the truck and my son is starting to learn to drive the boat.

It IS a tough call, and I didn't mean to pick on you. I could see the other guys point though too.

If I try that, and you're behind me, you gotta promise not to yell at Dirtymike (I'll have him wait in the boat and cross his eyes, and if anyone asks, he'll tell them he's not allowed to drive the boat).

Switching gears, one time at a temporary launch south of Minnewaukan, we were caught in a lightning storm in the boat, and it was POURING and blowing. We wanted to get off the water RIGHT NOW, and two parties parked their boat ON the ramp. Actually beached them on the ramp, and went and sat in their truck. Now here we come, and can't use the ramp, because there are two boats actually, physically sitting on the ramp, while the guys sat in their trucks and just looked at us.

My hair was about standing on end because of the lightning. I admit it. I lost my $hit. Yelling and stomping around. I behaved like a douche.

I only tell that story in hopes that one of those guys reads it. I apologize.

I see no need to apologize for that. I would have pulled one of those boats out to sea and then got the hell off the water.

I try not to get to excited about stupid people, I just watch and laugh now. If looks like someone needs a hand I will help to speed up things. One thing that I don't mess with is thunderstorms if the dock is busy will just pull the boat on shore and hang out until its over.

I kinda felt dumb when 20 minutes later the storm had passed, and this old boy gets out of his pickup whining, and says "why all the drama?". I was still hot, and told him there wouldn't have been drama if he'd not parked his boat ON the ramp.

Rant over.

Nose your boat up to the motor of one of the boats, jump in being sure to disconnect the fuel line to the motor with your foot and step on as many rods as possible while kicking over any tackle boxes and coolers you see. Fake a trip on the way to the front of the boat and pull the keys out of the ignition and put in pocket while forcibly disconnecting any wiring visible with particular attention being paid to depth finders. Fall out of front of boat and bounce off the trolling motor shaft while grabbing the prop at a 90 degree angle to it's attachment. Run ten yards up the ramp and then quickly turn around and wave your buddy back into behind the other boat making turning motions with your hand like you forgot the keys to your truck. Repeat the aforementioned steps while getting into the other boat, but in REVERSE order. Get back in the boat and take your chances with the storm knowing that at least you will die teaching someone else to be better people and drop keys into lake.

Aww, you guys are funny. I shoulda done all that, and more. Nobody would have gotten out of their trucks to stop me.

I walked up to about 3 or 4 of the trucks, and asked the occupants (through a window rolled down about 1/8") if the boats were theirs. I gave up after a few tries.

Ha ha. Lasso their motor cowboy style, throw a dally around a cleat on your boat, with about 50 feet of slack in the line. Give her the onion and jerk them right off the ramp! :;:rockit ;:;rofl

Not just loading/unloading boats tests a person's patience. Let's talk golf for a moment. haha People should LEARN golf etiquette before going on course....as in ..if you are a group of 4...walking...and a group of 2 are behind you...and they seem to be waiting for you each hole...that maybe..just maybe.. a light bulb would go off in your head and let the faster group play through. I don't play that much anymore but boy did that test the patience...and I am a terrible golfer and not an expert by any stretch.;:;banghead

I have a hard time advocating breaking someone else's stuff.. I think this situation could have been handled Johnr style. Drop trow and and find a convenient storage hole. I imagine they would get out of the truck pretty quick if not you'd at least feel better afterward.

playing with some relates and friend one time. there were four of us and like 3 foursomes in front of us. no place to go. waiting on every hole. there was a 3 some behind us that had hit into us twice and was acting all douchey like because they had to wait. the third time they hit into us, it was one of their drives and the ball actually went by us 20 yards as we stood on the fairway bullshitting and waiting for the group to get off the green in front of us. my cousin with a short fuse walked over to their ball. took out his 3 wood and hit it right back at them on the box. best damn shot he hit all day. ball skipped twice and went right between their carts. they got in their carts and tore right up to us like shit was gonna go down. then they did some quick math, calculated 4 is more than 3 and probably took a look at a couple of the fellas i was golfing with and changed their mind regarding their approach to the situation. they went back to the box. eventually teed off after we were out of their way. waited about 15 seconds on the fairway for us to clear the green and decided they had had enough. picked up their balls and headed out. i never saw them before that day and never saw them again. i am guessing they found a formula 1 or abandoned course to play on where they felt more comfortable.
