Yep, in temps like these it always seems like a guy has 1 or 3 to many layers of clothes on. :;:smokin

Grand Forks circa Jan 1996 I can recall an ambient of -42F, and having to take the battery out of my truck, put it up in my dorm room for a few hrs to warm up and then my truck would start. That same winter I had the ignition module go bad on the same truck and in some brutal cold temps had to pull the distributer, take that up into the dorm room, let it warm up so I could touch it without freeze-branding my fingers.

I don't know about any character building, but it motivated me to do well enough to #1 have a reliable vehicle and #2 have enough of an emergency fund set aside that someone else can work on the MF'r in the cold.

My first semester of college was auto tech. Suddenly it sunk in that I’d be huffing fumes and freezing my ass off for the rest of my life if I made it a career. Changed majors the next semester and stuck it out for a (worthless) bachelors degree.

Brrrr. I remember when GF tied it’s record low of 43 below in about 2004 when I was up there. Of course I had an 8 am class that day that I couldn’t skip.
