With these cold days and nights below freezing, this has the potential of really turning into something pretty ugly. I don't have confirmation or connections out west, but heard lower elevation snowpack was melting. I can only imagine the destruction potential that exist if we get a ton of water with these ice jams, especially along the Yellowstone. Those ice chunks can rip big trees right out of the ground. I've seen it where half of the ramp at the Confluence is in the water.

the 'stone at the confluence was out last night... the missouri was still intact and snow covered with wet edges... the river at the hwy 85 bridge was still snow covered with wet edges to the west hole last night and at noonish today with water still down bout 1' from the high - jammed up somewhere in between...
my fear is that the river (big water coming from both north and south) will b chunckin mud into the lake till june...
there will b stories for generations bout the 200# paddlefish (trees) that got away in the spring of '18...
