What's worse? A guy cleaning a few big fish or the guy with a camper on devils who kills 500 fish between 13-17" fish every summer?

'Sconi's. 'Sconi's are worse than low oxygen, sandy flesh, and they're worse than the leeches you left under the boat tarp 3 weeks ago.

I realize everyone has the right to keep whatever they catch , but something like picture above is ridiculous. Bragging rights, who gives a shit. Lots of people blame Game & Fish on the fisheries. Take a few for meals , take a few pictures. All in good fun.

Question: How do you guys manage to take a picture holding more than 1 very large fish if you are releasing them?
1. Have a floater in the livewell and catch another you release.
2. Have a lucky a** double.
3. Keep them.

i'm a very good driver - always hit a yellow early, and am always the first at the 4 way stop...

sometimes i stop at green lights just to make the shitty drivers feel better about themselves... hope nobody minds...

Walleye are basically a garbage fish. I'd eat a carp from the Maple River over them any day.;:;popcorn

I was just listening to the game and fish on 550 and they mentioned a study about catch and release for walleyes at a depth of 25-30' on the rainy river. They said the result of the study was that only 50% of the fish survived being brought up from those depths. I think it maybe time to rethink how we perform catch and release on bigger and smaller fish at deeper depths. Knowing the mortality of fish from depths 30-40' would be higher this may change some minds when fishing at these depths. I personally will probably rethink C&R at depths more than 30' and those 15" or 25" fish will just have to go in the livewell.

Not true.

NDGF regs have all tourneys within the state catch and kill from sometime early july to sometime late August (cant recall exact dates. NWT last week was catch and kill. Tourneys earlier and later can be C&R and all year long can be CPR format.

This is a fact. Governors cup is catch and kill. I've never fished the DWC classic, but I believe is the same. Isn't is actually illegal to release any fish once it is in your live well? Wouldn't that make any tournament other than Catch, Measure, Picture and Release tournaments like the AIM series a catch and kill event?

Unless applied for and approval received from Game and Fish. As an individual, I cannot release my fish; but the tourney organization can. Lets say I am in a May C&R format tourney in which I can have 7 in the well and weigh my biggest 5. It would be illegal for me to release the 2 extras after they hit the well; but not illegal for the org. to release the 5 I weighed.

MAYBE released tourny fish at the larger money tournies vary in different states?

If you’ve ever watched the weigh-in at a catch-and-release fishing tournament, you’ve likely seen at least one competitor lose money because of a dead-fish penalty. When Bruce Tufts sees that happen, he’s less concerned about the angler than he is about the resource itself.

author continues~

“These large fish are the most valuable brood stock in terms of genetics, egg numbers, egg quality and spawning success,” Tufts says. “Tournament organizers and anglers alike have a big responsibility to look after them.” Indeed, he’s directed much of his research toward maximizing the survival of fish at tournaments, including the development of the Shimano Water Weigh-in System, which has reduced bass mortality.

I just grilled a 27” and 26” walleye tonight. It was phenomenal. Got some nasty looks at the cleaning station, but F what other people think.

It's closer to 600. Please get your statistics straight.:::

I get your joke. But to clarify I didn't mean one single guy cleaning 500. I meant him and his wife and their 3 friends on the weekends. Plus the multiple days they all double dip.

Also im not condemning people from keeping their limit. My freezer is plenty full

If you are against slot limits and against tournament fisherman keeping and killing these big fish then there is no help for you. Impose slot limits like 1 over 20 or 22 or whatever. 2 tournament anglers in the boat then they can weigh 2 overs instead of 5. Not going to stop them from catching big fish deep which could still kill them but would limot the big fish that hit the weigh in.

Im not great at math but 100% fish that hit the knife dont make it.
