it was funded by a "grant" from Homeland Security
Yep we all paid for it...thanks guys ;:;barf

I generally defend Law enforcement, but stuff like this makes it really hard.

That's why I said they need 2 of them, 1 to shit on and the other to cover it up with, if they paid $300,000.00 for that, boy the City of Bismarck needs a good talking to by their tax payers

It was paid for by a Grant, There is millions of $ out that in forms of a Grant, you just need to know how to apply for said funds

In fairness, they paid for it with DHS grants (I know, still debt being passed to our kids). Also, what do we know about the utility of this apparatus? How many crazy armed folks have you confronted in their homes?

Just playing devils advocate.

If it came with quick tach you could put a bucket on it and clean the parking lot.

Im not a fan of the machine for the intended purpose, however, they’ll go through a lot more than a guy would think. It looks like a armored CAT skid steer. I’ve put plenty of hours on a skid steer similar to the one pictured in all the stuff you’ve mentioned: snow, ice, mud, dirt.

Not doubting the machine KW, just the configuration. I bet you didn't have smooth rubber tracks, zero clearance, and put whatever that porta potty weighs on the front with a couple dudes behind it when you were getting your stick time. Tactically speaking, the only safe place from fire is directly in front, so if you have to turn the machine left or right to navigate the terrain or to get through mud/snow/whatever, you would be exposing the men to direct fire from either side. Not to mention the cab/driver being exposed on the turns as well. All I'm saying is that tactically speaking, this piece of equipment has some significant downfalls if facing even average resistance. A police force could probably get a used M113 Armored Personnel Carrier that would without a doubt go through any terrain/conditions and better protect the occupants from anything under a anti tank round for less than 300k.

I wonder if it will get ran enough to keep the fluids moving besides “playing” with it? It looks kind of neat, but not 300 big ones neat.

You know, on one hand we talking about the expense of the thing and how it's not necessary around here. But, the item will be used/offered for all police departments in the state that would require its use, not just in the city limits of Bismarck.

On the other hand, look what our government is doing with lessening the severity of crimes (slaps on the wrist) and how the judicial system is letting crappy citizens act as criminals and get to walk away without much jail time. Add in all of the crack/meth around here and the bolstering of how those drugs FREAK out people holed up inside of apartments, most with some form of weapon on hand. It all comes 'round to the circle that we're having to pay for equipment like this skidsteer because of all the other tertiary issues we're not dealing with one-by-one.

The degradation of our society as a whole.... :;:deadhorse

They’ll be using these to take our guns away in the near future. Seriously though WTF are they gonna use this for? This is Bismarck for Pete’s sake. More tax payer money down the shitter.

Gee I don't know how long has it been since West Dakota SWAT had to deal with someone barricaded inside of a home....... oh that's right this morning! So let's see they have funds they have to spend on stuff like this so they did and you guys are giving them s*** for it. something that will keep officers safe! Same guys that talk about blue lives matter but then you turn around and bitch when they get something to protect themselves.

What do they do when it is on the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th floor of a house or apartment? Seems to me the usage of that machine will be very limited.
I am all for protecting our law enforcement but isn't there better usage of the money for protection items?

I wondered why anybody in their right mind would ever buy that machine as designed. There is all sorts of "Free" federal money floating around and us poor saps pay for it. Best marketing scheme I've seen in awhile, I wonder what kind of seller liability waiver is in the contract .

It's a dirty shame but it's perfectly legal.
