North central by border.
Snow is heavy and wet. More snow came now than all winter. Glad most had melted before this storm. Finally quit snowing but wind is strong. Got stuck in driveway with 4x4. About 2 feet on most of the road in my part of the town. Big drifts in yard. Will take some time to melt this away depending on future temps. I would think a lot of this snow stuck were it came down at but cannot get out of town to see. Not sure how the wildlife fair in this. Should be a fair amount of roundoff to fill up whatever. db

db-2, I'm not so sure we will see a lot of runoff from this. Thus far the weather forecast is for a fairly slow climb in temps, and since it's all sitting on thawed soils, I am guessing we will see a lot of this disappear right into the ground. I'd be a lot more concerned if we were expecting to see a rapid return to "normal" temps for this time of year.

Hope the cities are prepared to hire a bunch of contractors to held dig out. People will be lucky to get to Easter unless it is all hands on deck! People won’t be able to drive down the road until it is cleared and its not melting anytime soon.

I'd say close to 3 feet in Beulah. My whole backyard has enough snow that my chocolate lab has to "swim". She's not impressed. After I finished clearing my driveway I went across the street to help my neighbor and the snow in the street was just past the knee. Next go around I'm going to have to try a spray of WD40 and see if that keeps the snowblower from plugging up.

I use cooking oil spray, it works good.

Baby oil in a spray bottle works too.

Our snow will melt and if that is really Fargo, that poor kid is likely standing in a puddle of piss.

Allen:
Dug a hole in garden before storm. I was surprised how much frost was out.

Yes, hopefully a lot will go right down. Snow here was somewhat wet so that may help in getting it into the soil. Some ice was on bottom of snow and snow did stick to shovel. db

Mercer county. ( Beulah/Hazen area) is officially closed. All roads including city streets are closed to travel and shelter in place orders are recommended. I’ve never seen them do this before.

I shoveled a bit, just the steps and sidewalk. It's so wet that I doubt my little blower would do much.

I don't think I've ever seen so many HWYs CLOSED in ND

Link? I guess I'm not sure of which part of the page you're referencing. I just looked at Bismarck's precip total via the hourly forecast and it still had precip amounts for us. https://forecast.weather.gov/MapCli...-100.701&unit=0&lg=english&FcstType=graphical
https://w1.weather.gov/data/obhistory/KBIS.html

It's in the hour by hour data. There was a several hour gap on Tuesday where the data on water equivalent precipitation dropped out. The last couple hours of that could be legitimate but the first few hours most definitely was not. Now to deepen the plot we have two separate hours over the last day and a half where suddenly you have massive jumps in the amount of water being reported one being four tenths of an inch and the other being 6 tenths of an inch... which is literally 20 times more than the other hours. It's either highly erroneous data or a correction to bring the totals into alignment with reality I just have no idea how they work it there and I'm thankful to have you here because if anyone can shed some light on this you would be the guy!.

Weather Service in Bismarck stated in their FB page last night we'd received 16" of snow and equivalent to 1.6" of moisture. That seems to be on par what is normal precipitation equates to with snow; 1" of moisture to 10"-12" of snow.

Well, its still breezy with a light snow. Winds 30 mph with gusts to 40. News reports 30 inch's of snow so far, peak wind last night was 63 mph. Only supposed to get an additional 2-3 inches today. Then Sunday they are saying 3-5 inch's and 30 mph winds. :;:smokin

To all you people with cattle, hoping and praying that your losses will be minimal.
