My brother goes there all the time and some times they have to wear waders the slush is so bad under the snow. Last year a guy got a tracked four wheeler stuck and it spent the winter there. Usually have to walk every thing out. Him and a buddy drove out here last winter to fish and it wasnt even good and his buddy wants to come again he thought it was the best fishing ever.

He has caught a couple big perch though i will try and find a picture

found one

So leave my tracked Ranger at home and rent one out there. That is good information. My in-laws moved back here from north of there, so it's just a thought anymore, but DAMN, look at that fat bastard. Should just schedule a guide ,fly into Boise drive up.

I would get a guide. The conditions change fast they went one day last year ice was good drove up the next day could not get on. They only got to used the tracked wheeler once last year all the times they went out. An average day is maybe 10 perch and they catch one of those big slobs about every fifth time. The tv shows do some good editing to make it look like its a consistent bite. No minnows allowed. He put a perch eye on a cast master one of the first times he went and they thought he was crazy

@MSA What could I chase in late January in the Ft Meyers area?
Not too sure, I stay away from that area because the water stays so shallow so far out...I think you have to go 50+ miles out before you hit the shelf, as opposed to 1 or 2 miles like around FT Lauderdale or Pensacola. You'd have to talk to the guides down there to see if anythings poppin for inshore species that time of year, I'm not sure if anyone runs charters out far enough to hit the deeper waters in that area.

Had a invite Amazon fishing trip years ago I passed because of the required vaccines required to enter the country not sure if this still is the case.

Instead Alaska not long ago after living near Anchorage for several years some old contacts still remain for fly into the bush for spectacular trout/salmon fishing hitting the runs perfectly.

Whilst living working in AK I missed a good fresh water walleye shore lunch over time cant beat it,one tires of oily salmon and trout,so once every year a trip to mn bwca walleye trip.

Years ago I shared a boat fishing the PWT as a amateur pard was a crop duster pro angler from Nebraska who had a cabin on Peck he told me the next national walleye record was swimming in that reservoir as he witnessed a 37" eye at hells creek fishery as fish and game were rowing spawning eyes, peck walleye 10lber club has impressive weights and alot of eyes mid teens.

Pig browns in fall on Green Bay. I suppose I'd use baitcasting gear and bass lures. :p
