YUCK. I'd cut have cut down any on my property while they were still green. Once they start dying they're dangerous as hell for traditional felling and I'd have to hire it out.

I had over 20 of those f8ker3s on my property when we moved in. Cut every single one down and replaced with a dogwood hedge. Glad we did!

They appear to be zombies too - will grow back again a few years after you whack em. How did you finally kill them?

I see them everywhere in rural country now too - miles from any farm. Like a new type of invasive.

Fast growing, cheap, easy to keep alive in our area. That's the only pluses to them. Someone could make a killing if they could figure out how to get an evergreen to grow that fast!

I should say a short needled evergreen like spruce not pine.

Are professional tree guys that effn expensive?

I enjoy my time off of the grind, and prefer to not risk a life altering injury trying to save a few bucks.
That being said, I have cut down several trees, and burn firewood every weekend in the summer around the lake, so not saying I am opposed to working and doing shit for myself, but the riggem and roll that guy had going on there just seems a bit over board.

There are some different varieties of the Aus-Trees. Here's the willow hybrid:
Aus-Willows

I guess I always thought when the previous owner was talking about the Aus-Trees, he was referring to the poplar/cottonwood trees around the place. But I sure have some of those willows and just absolutely HATE them. Yep, they are on the list as well. They shed branches like a dog sheds hair every time the wind blows.

The ones I have that are more akin to cottonwoods are huge, and only about 34 years old.

One of the most outrageous bids you will ever get in your life is from somebody biddin on chopping down your trees.

In-laws have a bunch that are dead, every year 1-3 seem to fall down from wind or the such. I don't suggest taking a nap on the north side of their yard that's for sure

Had 5 big pines with stumps ground out for $2,000 last fall. They showed up after the kids got on the buss and gone before home so 7:30am-4:30pm. They hauled out the whole mess even, barely had a stick left in the yard afterwards.
After the June 20th storm I am darn glad I had it done as 2 were really close to the south side of the house and hard telling what would have happened if one started going down and the giant on the east side likely would have been a giant mess

At that price I think I’d have had a go at the 3 1/2 footer….grin

I now have a "grove" of huge mature old growth cottonwood trees that got struck by lightning 3 years ago...they be dead and are at least 8ft in circumference. Gives me a headache just typing about them.
