Fishing in Fargo city limits

I am moving to Fargo this summer from AZ. Before moving to this God forsaken wasteland (20 years here) I lived most of my life in the Pacific Northwest/Alaska and was an avid fisherman. When the weather permits, I would like to get back into fishing before age sneaks up on me. Are there areas to fish within city limits? Anything on the northeast side? I'd really like to get back into carp fishing again. I'm retired now so I can get the hell away from this brutal heat. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

The Red River runs right between Fargo and Moorhead. The Sheyenne River runs on the west side of of West Fargo and you are less than a 1/2 hour from a bazillion Minnesota lakes. All contain fish and rivers contain just about every species that the midwest has to offer.

I would start with the dams. Those can be good, especially in springtime.

The red and most of the smaller rivers flood every spring.

Yeah. For 20 years I watched retired people flee the cold and end up in Phoenix and Tucson. In April they go indoors, crank the air conditioning to 70 degrees and don't come out until October... Once it gets over 107 it starts feeling hot to me. 20 years ago it wasn't so bad. I live in a rural area and spent years working in the pest control industry. I never want to see another rattlesnake or scorpion ever again. I'm done.
