I've had great luck with 18lb Cabela's brand.
I tried suffix for a year and didn't care for it. I didn't like the kinking or how it ties. I don't remember the brand, but it had a yellow package and boat on the front. That broke too easily.
Costner never does anything OK. It's either absolute junk (Water World, The Postman, and more), or great (Field of Dreams, Dances with Wolves, Robin Hood, Prince of Theives and more).
Cob size will greatly influence this. As we're almost to mid-August the later maturing corn is getting ready and so the cobs tend to be bigger.
I use to sell sweet corn and new potatoes in street corners growing up. We could get about 100 doz in a 6.5ft box. So you're probably close at 80...
My garden was a total failure due to deer predation. The deer mowed everything down a few weeks ago. EVEN MY POTATOES! Don't know what happened, but I think the vermin hit the 7ft tall fence wide open and ripped it. If you're looking to bow hunt in Minot this fall, I'll have a blind setup...
Acidifying the soil will help. However, this will be short lived and likely needed every/everyother year. Elemental sulfur is the recommended amendment to acidifying the soil. A paper done by Iowa State concluded that to effectively acidify the soil (0-6in depth) if there is a calcium...
Forgot that NDSU Extension just released a pub in tree IDC this spring. Here's the link: https://www.ag.ndsu.edu/publications/lawns-gardens-trees/iron-chlorosis-in-trees
Here is a publication on IDC (Iron Deficient Chlorosis) from Utah State. I'd take a soil test so you know your pH, but also test the Calcium Carbonate Equivalent (CCE). That tells the whole story. You'll likely see IDC more prevalent in side slopes as rain doesn't infiltrate as much and leach...
Iron chlorosis is caused by excess limestone. The limestone oxidizes the form of iron from ferrous (black/Fe2) to ferric (rust/Fe+3). The iron is there, but ferrous iron is a trillion times more soluble than ferric iron. Nutrients need to be soluble so a plant sucks them up as they suck up...
Roundup does not neutralize the soil it has a very short residual effect. You can plant anything you want a week after Roundup has been applied. Cornerstone Plus is a generic Roundup (active ingredient glyphosate).
Just curious, do you know how fast and many feet of lead he had out to get to 40+ft? After about 35ft, I usually pull out the dipsy divers. I like trolling, but have ADD so usually pull 2.5-3mph.
I'd try to disturb the soil as little as possible. So I'd work 5ft wide strips for the trees and work it in the spring. This will help you get out earlier in the spring if needed and also keep the weeds down. I would desicate it this fall and again next spring and mowing will help the residue...
Cattails aren't the best. Probably being hayed in hopes of farming it next year. The big regulation of wetlands is draining them. Just because there's cattails, it doesn't mean it's a wetland.
A wetland needs: hydric soils (there's about 60 different ways to classify a soil as hydric. This...
