Beretta 626 came threaded from the factory. Those are Beretta "Victory" extended tubes, IC/IC. The Beretta "Victory" tubes are compatible with anything equipped with their "Mobil-Choke" system. - - - Updated - - - It's like the chest pocket on a set of bibs, only for a UTV.

    TTSX vs M70 .308

Shouldn't be short on twist and typically Barnes will tolerate a mile of jump to the lands. That said, there's no reason not to try 130's for deer. My buddy's wife shot her ND Moose w/308/130 TSX's punching both shoulders, both shots were complete pass-throughs. Plenty of power for deer.

Barrel break-in - needed or myth

A little rust on the rings, and bolt, and front face of the action, and bolt handle never hurt anything.......

New run on guns and ammo?

    New deer rifle?

Starting a cartridge with a 57MM (2.25") case OAL into a 2.8" OAL magazine was wrong-headed from the get-go. It's hard to make a gain over the 1/4" shorter 243Win given how much body taper the 6 has and the 243 doesn't have. 1:12 was another giant mistake. Remington spent decades under the...

    New deer rifle?

The LRF becoming affordable and ubiquitous has effected as much change/advancement upon the shooting sports as did the brass case cartridge or the telescopic sight. The LRF negates the need to shoot a rifle with an uncomfortable amount of recoil. Assuming one can use the LRF, a ballistics...

    New deer rifle?

Remington has been tone deaf regarding rimfires in general since they discontinued the 541 IMO. Remington also routinely made exceptionally poor commercial launches of new cartridges/chamberings. They've also been painfully slow to acknowledge when others have been successful. The 1:12 twist...

    Boat Winterizing

In the camper I shake out a hefty dose of scented powdered carpet cleaner onto all of the carpet when I leave for the last time, then I vacuum it up in the spring.

    New deer rifle?

When/if availability of reloading components settles down I sort of have an idea for a "hunting weight" 6PRC. 6.5PRC brass seems to be in mighty short supply and I'm not building something if I can't source several hundred pieces of brass to form with up front. I guess I'll just have to plod...

    New deer rifle?

The word on their website was Gov't contracts for their sniper rifles was eating up all of their production time. Good for them! They've been way behind on producing their Rec7 and Rec10 AR's supposedly for the same reason.

Their "light" rifle is 3oz shy of 7#. Hard pass for that kind of $$. I sure do hope that Barrett resumes production of their Fieldcraft.

    New deer rifle?

Creedmoor case has a bit less capacity than the 308/243 case. 6.5 PRC case is just a bit shy of the capacity of a 30-06. Or the really short answer: +/- 200-250fps.

    New deer rifle?

The Creedmoor family of cartridges has been and will continue to be the most effective launch of a new chambering to date. First and foremost, they started with a cartridge that doesn't rattle your fillings on every shot. Then they got the magazine OAL capacity and chamber dimensions in...

lower end spotting scope recommendations please

For $500 I'd try to find a used Leupold 12-40x60, or one of the B&L Elites like pictured above. If you want to use a spotter w/glasses on, the Leupold really stands out due to longer eye relief. Another option you might have to search a bit for would be a Meopta Meostar S1 which were closed...

    Boat Winterizing

My non-scientific theory regarding mice. 1. Their strongest drive/pull into a vehicle, boat, camper, etc is anything that smells like food. 2. Their 2nd strongest drive/pull is smelling that other mice have been in an area (urine/feces). 3. Warmth/shelter to a far less degree. If a mouse...

    Boat Winterizing

You've got the mechanical end of things handled. Some folks like to run tanks dry. I like the idea of filling them full and treating the fuel so there's no room for condensation. Regarding mice, you have to get rid of anything that smells like food. Vacuum, and depending upon your situation...

Never heard of Retay, so I went to their website. Why on earth do gun companies insist on building guns on the E Coast? Maryland, Really?

Doggie 3 is another English Cocker. I'm doing what I can to make him a scent hunter rather than a sight hunter. Doggie 1 used his nose more than his eyes. He was methodical and often found birds that other dogs ran by. He'd mark a bird down then go put his nose on the ground to try and find...
