    Rifle Opener 2019 countdown

    I'm excited for opener even without at tag. Brother has a buck tag though, we hunt the family farm every year with dad. Should be a good time we've seen some nice bucks the last couple weeks. Gonna bring the shotgun with and see if I can find some pheasants.

    You shoot like.....

    I shoot an old Remington 870 wingmaster in 20 gauge, 2 3/4 in 4 shot lead out of my 20 gauge on roosters, works just fine and I don't take risky shots. In the later season I really like to use the Remington 3 in 4 shot lead which is 1 1/4 oz. I only shoot my 12 gauge for waterfowl and turkey.

    They can be pretty fun to shoot, flush them all out of the bins and then wait for them to come back. Stuff a jalepeno and wrap in bacon and grill em.

    Swan hunters

    Good to know, a buddy of mine painted some old Canada goose shells white to use this season. Will give it a go anyways, seems like they usually come down fairly late in the year.

    Some of it has to do with right place right time, plenty of big bucks that get shot close to a farm yard or road or hit by cars during the rut.     Pheasant Opener

    Things look just like last year. Wet, standing crops, wind and cold. Depending on snowfall it's going to be almost impossible to get around in some parts of the state. Birds should be holding very tight, I think focusing on cover will be the ticket.

    I use Fiocchi 3in #1 shot for ducks over water, Federal 2 3/4 BB on geese over decoys and 3.5 in BB for pass shooting geese.
