This aint rocket science, theres a set date, and a set price. why fix it if its not broken?
wer, I was starting to think all I would get was "it doesnt effect me so I dont care" type responses! Kudos 2 u.After a quick bit of research (google), I found the following.
States that went from a set date to a license that's valid for 1 year from purchase date saw a reduction in license sales revenew and an increase in licensure gaps, because people were waiting until the last possible minute to renew, or they would let their license lapse in the months they didn't fish.
Also state fishery agencies receive federal money from the Sport Fish Restoration Act. This grant is based partially on the number of licenses issued in the state. More license gaps and lapses mean less $ for state fishery agencies. More license revenue means more money going into the fisheries.
Better answer?
IMO if you buy a license in January, it should be good for 1 year, not 3 months. No reason they couldnt allow a license to be good for 12 months from the date of purchase. If they refuse to do this, at least you should get a discounted price if your license will only be good for a few months... What say you?:;:lame
Is a daily limit really fair if you don’t start fishing till11pm? Shouldn’t it be a 24 hour limit?
I think most of you dont understand what Im saying. Just because it wouldnt affect you, doesnt mean that it doesnt affect some people... It would be an easy fix that would make it more fair for everyone.
Maybe we could try this approach. Tell me why having a fishing license be good for 12 months from the date of purchase would be a bad thing, if you can think of a reason...
I usually buy mine on my phone when I get to my fishing spot and realize it's the beginning of April.

I've done the same. Side note I talked with a warden last year and asked him if taking a picture of my license on my phone would be sufficient proof if ever being checked and he said yes.
I'm not sure if rules have changed but an electronic version of a license is not a valid license. You need to have a signed copy of you license. I suppose that is why a pic would work. It would have your signature on it. I know there was talk of doing a e-license.

I thought this thread would have been about more than 1 year licenses. I wish they offered lifetime licenses like the People's Republic of Minnesota does. I'm not 16 anymore so the numbers probabably wouldn't punch at this point in my life.
Honestly, they know there are guys like me who are here for resident licenses and who have wives that want NOTHING more than to move back home to the Twin Cities so the grandparents don't have to drive three hours one way to see their grandkids and the salaries are a lot higher. Trust me...all it's going to take is lifetime hunting and fishing licenses and I'm buying one for our whole family. Then the wife is toting us all back to the land of 10,000 regulations. It sucks balls, but it's true.
