Well made my 5th annual trip to Lake Vermillion in NE MN and it was a very interesting weekend. Left Bismarck in cool clear skies and 8 hours later driving into resort in snow and drizzle with icy roads. We got up Thursday morning and headed to a public dock and had to break some skim ice to get to open water
fished hard all day and only had 2 follows all day. a tough discouraging day but 2 more days to try and get them. the other boat seen 8 fish and caught a 41 incher. Friday morning hit the dock after sunrise and hit the day hard a couple follows early and my brother hooks into a 45 incher
We fished hard the rest of the day and end up seeing 9 fish with 4 actually tried to bite and 2 of those hooked but came unpinned. One was a giant. So in Muskie fishing it was a great day. All weekend was crazy weather, rain, drizzle, snow, sleet, ice pellets and anything else mother nature can do in 30 deg weather.
This is pictures of the boat floor during a ice pellet volley. Saturday morning we once again hit the dock and break a little ice and there is skim ice in the whole bay out the main lake, that was about a mile of skim ice, skim that we ran on plane. Got out and it was another good day in the Muskie world, my brother caught a 42 inch
and we seen 9 fish again this day and also had 4 bite and caught two for the day. Right at the end of the day last spot we pull a fish off a island shelf and she misses my bait but definitely tried to bite it. We fish around a underwater reef and another island in the same area and then go back to where we drew that fish and fished the area hard and she never came back. I said to my brother and said lets call it and he says fire a few more in there and 2 casts later she comes out and hammers the Medusa I was throwing and the fight was on, about 2 minutes later after my brother says I was in the tuna pose for a while, while the fished stripped drag she was in the net. My new personal best 48 1/2 inches long and a fat girthy fall putting on the feedbag Muskie. A few different angles of her

and this picture just to show the size of her belly
it was a great weekend and timed it right for bait fish to be up in the shallow shelfs, but paid for it in being cool and wet, not sure why but I would, will do it again. A special thanks to my brother Brian for his patcince and help to get to this point and catch, looking forward to breaking the 50 inch mark with him some time in the future. dukgnfsn
