I checked at noon and we're at 5.5inches in Dickinson with .41 inches of water.
where did you find that information? I've been trying to find the snow total and water equivalent for my area on the NOAA site but no luck.

Yeah, the number of cooperative observers the National Weather Service has is falling every year, for a number of reasons.

In the Bismarck area, the snow received was 6.7 inches and the staff melted it down to yield 0.32 inches of water equivalent. That makes the ratio about 21 inches of snow to an inch of water. It's a little on the unexpectedly light side given the temps, but it was definitely a lighter snow coming out of the snowblower, or on the scoop of my shovel.

Allen I send my measurements in via twitter when the Bismarck office requests. It was more interesting at our place watching the temperature fluctuate between 31 and even up to 35 degrees early in the snow fall period. Pretty damn cool day for weather nerds.

Thanks to whoever from the office posted this!

Looks like Bismarck will probably be up to #3 all time by the end of the weekend and trending ahead of the all time record.

I take daily measurements for the weather service. I'm on the road all week so my secretary has been recording the info. I'll share the rest later.
