"Similar to the Amber Alerts that many are familiar with, Blue Alerts will enable authorities to warn the public when there is actionable information related to a law enforcement officer who is missing, seriously injured or killed in the line of duty, or when there is an imminent credible threat to an officer."

Has to do with the guy they are looking for in bismarck

I was kind of thinking the same thing. Not sure why it took so long to get issued. But I guess the first time is more of a test run.

Got the message at work and all it said was blue alert. We all said what the hell is that so we turned on the TV. TV said it was just a weekly test. A blue alert is a weekly test????? ND is trying really hard to get on the same sheet list as Hawaii!

Blue alert? Better keep one in the chamber today, just to be safe.

I got two of them, One at 1:40 pm and another one at 1:51 pm. A 5th grader could have written better alert messages than what I got. Sorry , Someone had to say it.

I thought my old flip phone was imploding. Never heard that kind of noise before then no rational explaination.

agreed. first was just a headline, no info or hint of action to take/watch/call. second had a link...was hours old. glad they have the system, glad they got to test it without harm done, hope they refine it otherwise folks will be clamoring to opt out.

What ^^^^ said. Good to have this capability but it certainly created more questions than answers. Vocal message was very garbled and first message was nothing other than an alert, no idea what it was for, or where the alert was (what area of the state), or what the public should be looking for or avoiding.

There should be one place to go check for the latest. The badge app should take you there.

And the info should be there prior to the Alert Badge showing up on phones.

The "see local broadcast media" message was a big fail. Everyone turned on TVs and radios to find nothing being mentioned.

The wrong man turned out to be the right guy.
Investigators with the Burleigh County Sheriff's Department arrested a 24-year-old man Thursday afternoon in the heat of a police chase, as law enforcement searched for a suspect involved in an attempted assault on a Bismarck police officer.
The man they were looking for was 22-year-old Ulises Villalobos, who later turned himself in at a gas station in Brookings, S.D.
