Lets hypothetically say im buying a cheap boat from a private party and they have no registration or that title card. What's a guy supposed to do?

I purchased a used boat several years ago with same situation. I checked with Game & Fish and was told that titles are not required in ND. Was instructed to provide Game & Fish with a bill of sale reflecting the hull serial number and serial number of motor. G&F was able to provide registration with that info. Was several years ago so not sure if anything has changed.

Thanks I forgot about hull number. What if seller isn't the same as last guy it was registered too?

I didn't say that lol. BUT hypothetically, if a guy has a boat that some other dude just left at his place for 20 years and it's worth say $500 then what?

File off the last 2 digits of the hull number and BAM, brand new number that's never been registered before.

If its a MN boat coming into ND, you must provide a title with a bill of sale or the MN registration with a bill of sale. I just went through this with NDG&F.

I have a co worker going through this right now. He is trying to register an inflatable (think zodiak) that is 10ft long and has a motor plate on the back. No Hull ID number. He has tried for the last year off and on and gets the run around.
