Boy, does this company really know how to lower customer sales or what.

Dick’s Sporting Goods announced it would destroy all of the unsold firearms it pulled off store shelves in February after the Parkland school shooting.
The sports retailer decided to destroy the rifles instead of returning them to the manufacturer, the Pittsburgh Post Gazette reported.
“We are in the process of destroying all firearms and accessories that are no longer for sale as a result of our February 28th policy change,” a spokesperson from Dick’s Sporting Goods told the media outlet. “We are destroying the firearms in accordance with federal guidelines and regulations.”

The rifles will be demolished at distribution centers and then delivered to a salvage company to be recycled. It was not immediately clear how many firearms will be destroyed.

In February, the company announced it would stop selling assault-style rifles and imposed a new rule that buyers would have to be 21 years or over to purchase a firearm at the store.

The changes came after the Valentine’s Day shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. The alleged gunman, Nikolas Cruz, shot and killed 17 students and faculty with an AR-15. Cruz legally purchased the firearm.
Following the massacre, shooting survivors called on Congress to pass stricter gun laws. The company previously pulled sporting rifles from its shelves after the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.
The sporting goods store is currently facing two lawsuits due to the imposed age limit on purchasing firearms.

This company is failing and this is just an attempt to get free advertising. They weren't selling many guns to begin with so I would guess their stock of guns was scraping the bottom of the barrel anyway. So, they compared the cost of shipping the guns back with the cost of advertising and came up with, "Hey, if we tell everyone we are going to destroy these scary guns, maybe we can come out looking noble and get some great advertising for the cost of the paltry number of guns we have left in stock." Makes me laugh that these morons think destroying a few guns will get shoppers to come to their store.

It’s probably like 10 guns. Trying to get positive Lib press out of nothing. I don’t shop at their crappy stores anyway.

Didn't they quit selling AR's in the Dicks retail stores a few years ago? But then continued selling them threw field and stream? Not that I support support there decision but it's pretty low to publicly take a stance under one name but continue selling them under another.

The only reason I would go in their (Bismarck store) would be "Free...". Even then, I think it's not worth my time.

Shouldn't their store name change as well? Maybe something like "Vag's"

Good bye Dicks Sporting Goods. I am also disappointed in Dunhams that we got in Jamestown. Give them your drivers license to store under the counter to look at a gun. Nope you can't see two guns. Nope you can't feel what the handgun feels like in your hands with the magazine in. They treat you like a criminal so I'll treat them like ------- last resort to buy anything.

I have gone in and asked "do you have any Federal large rifle match primers" no. "Do you have bullets" oh yes right this way, and I am led to loaded ammo. "Do you have a RCBS Rangemaster" no what's that? I have asked for a half dozen things I know they don't have. I'm sure the clerk is happy with me. Last question is always "do you know if Scheels has any"?
Edit: Ooops sorry that would be RCBS Chargemaster. Yikes I have two of them you would think I would remember what to call them. My 22-250 Remington is a XR100 Rangemaster.

Need to either support these businesses or dump them. Hogg announced a couple more boycott's today of funds investing in S and W. Let Dick's try to survive on selling shirts and shoes for soccer. Support Cabela's, Midway, and Scheels even if it occasionally costs a little more, they haven't backed down to these cry babies that want to see this country become a socialist shit hole.
