They warned me about this as well... being the sick twisted Fokker that I am I was actually looking forward to it, but I never did have any side effects from it.... oh well, maybe next time.

Sometimes I will take some melatonin to help me fall asleep. That stuff can give you some trippy dreams as well.

Thought I would bring this to the top again. I was 3 weeks quit yesterday. Cravings sometimes have been as bad as day 1, my teeth hurt and I got a sore throat, but am still hanging in there.

Don't give up Norm! Keep Kicking ASS! You and everyone trying to quit needs to keep us posted on progress. It sucks but in the end, it's worth it.

Bumping this back up to see how everyone is doing.

I hit 3 weeks today. I had my first real test this past weekend, I did some shed hunting and spent plenty of time in the truck. All in all, the cravings weren't that bad. I think I am over the hump now.

Good luck with the fights guys!

I chewed copenhagen for 30 + yrs, the last 20 or so a can a day, had a dip in from time I woke up til I went to bed.I quit cold turkey 6 yrs ago and have'nt had any tobbaco of any kind ever since. The cravings were almost unbearable for the first couple months, but would grab a butterscotch button, rootbeer barrel or lifesaver about the time I was ready to give in, worked for me.That being said I think if I were to have a dip today, I'd be back, right where I left off!

My love and respect seriously is out to you guys who are man enough to quit this effing garbage. It was easy to quit smoking while drinking when I began to have "dual" cravings. I'll VERY occasionally still have a non-menthol smoke after removing the filter. I'm talking a couple years between cigarettes.

I find myself in want of a nicotine fortification spray to satiate the "pressure" in my head. Moving a large chew around my mouth seems to help less and less dependent on the freshness of the product. I'm nearly 50yoa and began my journey with "Happy Days" in 1977. By '81; Copenhagen Snuff.

Bad, bad, and evil, evil, evil: You guys are making me feel like Red:

Just wanted to get this back to the top to see how everyone is doing.
Give us some feedback even if it's not good news. Those of us that have gone through it will understand the struggles and I think it does a guy good to know your not the only one who has / is struggling through this Thing!
Keep up the struggle!

Oh yes - that is THE Test of Tests for me - fishing.
It looks and smells so good - 15 years after quitting.

I never made the switch to the hard stuff even over a twenty year period. Cope was just too fine and mealy for me - I couldn't keep it in place. Mouth full of crappy tasting particles 10 minutes after dipping. Hurl.

Skoal straight was perfect for this guy. Stayed where I put it. Yummy.

I'm going to ask a dumb question here....why does anyone ever start dipping or smoking? And did you know it was highly addictive when you tried it?

PS - Good luck to all that are trying to quit!

I hit 28 days today! I spent 3.5 days in the mountains this past week and I didn't even think about having a dip. That really surprised me because I thought fishing and hunting would be my hardest. Now to quite the booze...

Good luck guys!!

Young and dumb, plus having an addictive personality doesn't help.

It was THE thing in the Hills to make you tough and grown up. Leaf tobacco tastes incredible and teaches how to separate saliva for "spit" and "swallow": It's the same concept of the candy flavored garbage sold today to entice the kiddos. I truly believe I could eat a pouch of Red Man (sorry Lunk) or Levi Garrett like a lettuce heart. A few years ago, I bummed a large jaw-full of peach Skoal just before a meeting. It was delicious, got me through the meeting fine and all the way down to Rebel-1 to be replaced by a proper wad of snuff (the "new" Shoppette was always a cluster in one way or another and I'm sure still is). So: The snuff got me home, showered and in bed. I woke up that afternoon feeling like I had strep throat. The peach "goodness" had eroded my throat raw. In fact, I thought I may have had strep except no other symptoms except for a "rug burn" every time I swallowed. This stuff is evil. I'd be in a hell of a place if "they" made it illegal.

Freshman year of college, didnt really drink(up to that point) or smoke, wanted to fit in on the football team and seemed like everyone chewed. I went to walmart and made one of the worst f*&^ decisions of my life. Bought a can of cherry skoal and it was awful, but I kept at it and pretty soon I was hooked. I was so cool I f*&^ bragged about it to my friends! Again dumbest decision of my life. It Began a life long cycle of quitting and starting. Today is day 39 for me, some days it feels like day 1. I had planned to quit before my son was born I did 2 days before.

Its really really hard, the guys that can have a chew while drinking or some other activity and then go weeks without one I want to punch in the face. Guys that make excuses of why they chew and how great it is, I want to cut their nuts off, same with the guys that say they have no cravings when they quit:D

To the guys still going and thinking about going back it aint worth it. You may be bitchy or just a down right dick to be around(like I am now) but think about it this way. Would you rather be outside fishing on a day like today or sitting in a hospital waiting to die? If you get a chance read this pretty powerful stuff.

Good Luck to those out there and this thread has definitely helped me out. Bring it to the top!

Been chewing a few pouches of grinds a day, I still have a few pinches ofcopenhagen though but have cut that into about half of what I used to chew baby steps i guess.
