What the hell is wrong with you? Even if you hate his views, he's still somebody's husband, dad, family member or friend.

By that logic so did Bin Laden! Now they're not exactly equal but it doesn't change the fact that almost everybody has those same qualifications so it's highly convenient that you pick and choose when you use them. Simple fact was I was just being honest that was the first thing that popped in my head when I saw the article its not like he's making news for any other reason now days other than his pro-putin stance! You ever meet him? Well i did on a couple of occasions and he was a self-absorbed egomaniac who would pick any position so long as it would give him power and a soapbox so he started out a conservative went to Liberal than turned into another conservative / Russian / whatever the freaking hell knows what you want to call him by the end. The guy would run anybody else into the ground if they had a different opinion then him that week and was a jerk who I surely won't shed any tears over and by the looks of the post above not many other people will either. Feel bad for family sure.... but not for him.

To wish death on someone simply because you don't agree with his views puts you on a pretty low level imo. But then again the same person your wishing was dead is probably thinking the same thing of you, so maybe it just depends on who irony catches first

Maybe Ed was a personally a good guy, maybe he wasn’t. I’m guessing the “wishing death” thing is more of a wishing political silence death, not a personal I want you to die type of thing. I’m guessing most here only ever knew Ed as he portrayed himself on the microphone.

My condolences to his friends and family, my first thought when I saw the thread was "wonder if he has died", didn't get choked up or hope. I have a personal rule not to speak ill of the deceased. Moving on.

Imagine the difference in attitudes had he just stayed a passionate sports broadcaster all these years.

I know what you mean, but I don't know if that's good or not. One should never forget terrible people. It's part of teaching the next generation. It's best not to speak in a vengeful manner, but if we don't speak at all it becomes acceptable. Tolerance is what got this nation in a mess.

I agree with Kentucky's assessment that:
I’m guessing the “wishing death” thing is more of a wishing political silence death, not a personal I want you to die type of thing.
Perhaps even more likely is the use of hyperbole. I have seen everyone here use that.
