I'm with Juan, sounds too much like work. There are big patterns I have learned for the majority of places I fish that include time of year, etc. Details are for engineers, I'm a scientist and was taught to work within the confines of theories.

Note, I tried on that other website to use its log feature for a little while, I failed.

any stories of how this logging paid off?

Back in 2009 I was shooting a TV show and the fishing absolutely sucked. It was great the days before but now it was awful. I logged it with a "why did this day suck so bad?" In 2011 I got skunked while guiding for the 1st and only time in my nine years of guiding. That is what spurred me to start researching patterns and conditions that became my first book. In 2012 I nearly got skunked again but this time it clicked that the previous few days had cold nights. I finally put 2+2 together on what I was doing wrong. I went back to the days i mentioned in the earlier years and found that water conditions were similar, weather conditions were similar and the water temps had quickly dropped about five degrees. The next day I changed my pattern to target sluggish fish with long sit times and in totally different pattern areas out of the current. From that my "lateral movement" theory was born and I have perfected the pattern in the years since.

That qualifies as a success.

I don't know about a log --- but going through go pro video and eating up space and time is enough for me. All my videos is of us throwing fish back; plus the go pro doesn't help the one that we keep look like keepers. I also have to laugh at the wife backing down the ramp.

I'm already assembling a black-ops team to swipe your secret "Red River Limit" spots......

The only fishing logs I have is the piece of driftwood my walleye is mounted on and the rule of thumbs I carry around in my melon. Started putting some river level and bite stuff together for my boys if I kick the bucket though.

The Peoples Republic of Minnesota log book tells you when you can and can't fish. It even tells you the size of fish you and can't keep. And it's all different from lake to lake. Genius, just freaking genius I tell you.

In words like an old bow man B. F. If you want to fish, become the fish. If you want to catch fish become the bait.#$%^&>

would it help any if the log was kept on legal tablets?
Or is it in a trapper keeper?

I keep a notebook with a calendar, in the door of the vehicle. Just has dates and quantities and lengths. I need to buy a new daily calendar to put into it.

Or, alternately, I can often just ask Sluggo what we did.
