Anyone know of anything fun to do around the Orlando area in Florida? Besides all theme parks I mean.... We are here for 7 days, but i don't know if I'll be able to handle 7 days of theme parks.... any half decent priced ocean charters that anyone recommends? We rented a car so i'm fine with driving east or west an hour to fish.

Only charter I've used in that area was the sea leveler out of canaveral, during the 500 speed week in February. Caught a bunch of mackerel at the time, saw a giant manta ray surface, and it ran the two of us around 600 for the morning.

Only about 2 hours from Kennedy Space center / Nasa just to the SE of Orlando , plan on getting there early and spend an entire day there , tons to see and do there also right next to coco beach. I personally rent a car and head down to the ft Meyers area and always spend a night or two on Sanibel Island there. From there you can take the Key west express to Key west which is always an adventure.

Guides are expensive, pack your own stuff and go cast. there aint much down there that wont hit a shiny lure.

Last time down there I had a local tell me to cast close to shore and don't follow the lead of most who think they need to wade out as far as possible and then cast as far as possible he said most of the good fish are very near shore. I saw a couple programs on this in the last few months that confirm this as well.
