No cell phones no social media. Crazy shit we did lives on as stories that might get better with time. A lot more adventures back in the day take off with a atlas and try and figure out how to get where you are going
Ah yes the lost art of reading a map and road signs

We were the first generation that many had to fend for ourselves when we got home from school, we got to watch r rated movies on TV. We got to have paint ball wars, we got to drive 2 stroke 3 wheel death machine all by ourselves, we got to stay up Saturday mornings and watch cartoons. We lived by the motto if you aren't living on the edge you are taking up too much space. We got to get into fist fight on the playgrounds and no one ever called our parents.

This fall I was talking to a group of 19 to 20 year olds out goosehunting, We were talking about technololgy and how nice onyx is. The one kid was laughing about his boss having a plat book with fields and spots marked where he'd had success, I was thinking it wasn't that long ago I used plat maps all the time. lol made me feel old.

This one is really old childhood game during recess it was called kiss or kill other names were kiss cuddle torture. Where the boys would chase after the girls.and if you caught them they would have to pick. We played dodge ball with a real rubber ball, the one at recess.was against a brick wall and pe it was the traditional teams. We played four square at recess, had monkey bars and real steal slides. The city would push snow up into big piles and we would play king of the mountain. Had scrimmage football and baseball games and went to the pool for hours all by ourselves with no parent supervision.

It was common for boys to ask how's it hanging without worrying about being called a faggot. If you were called a faggot it had nothing to do with your sexual orientation but was said to call someone a retard. It was so nice when homos were forced to stay in the closet then eventually the military motto was don't ask don't tell in the mid 90s till early 2000s.

Sounds EXACTLY like my childhood, except never had a 3 wheeler.
