Well, scheduled for going under the knife tomorrow July 16th. Have to be at the hospital by 11:30 so guessing around 1 pm should be the surgery. Already have a heart surgery scheduled before mine so if another one comes in this weekend we will get bumped again. Sure would like to get this done.
Will update when we can.

Was wondering how things went BBJ. Good luck tomorrow and let us all know how u r doing and if there’s anything we can do.

Yep getting old sucks, but after spending last Thurs working calves with a friend, I guess there’s still a place for an old geezer to vaccinate and deworm while the young guys do the heavy lifting so to speak. Lots of fun and good to be still active.
Trouble was Friday after a routine lab test, I got a cell phone call on the way home to go to the ER immediately after a high Lab test suggested trouble. Thorough work up ruled out anything bad and that I was still disgustingly healthy ( or was it just disgusting?!?) but makes one really appreciate good health till you get a scare. Left the ER after the good news and immediately grabbed the fly rod and went fishing.

Bobkat glad it all turned out well. We are at the age now that anything can happen on any given day.
No longer 10 foot tall and bulletproof!!

That's right same day as mine!
Don't know if i will make it this year either because if it all turns out well we plan on being in AZ sometime in October-November.
Will have to meet up and have a couple stiff coffee's as that is as strong as i drink!

Went in Monday got to hospital at 11 am and around 2:30 they took me to pre-op. Had a heart surgery before mine and some other kind of surgery too. The person before me ended up having a stroke while in surgery which isn't good at all. I never got into the operating room until 4:30 and was in there until 6:30 as more complications. My right Carotid artery ended up being just about plugged all the way, just a pin hole the Doctor said for the blood to flow through. They don't like to do surgery after 95% plugged as risk of stroke is way higher i guess and other reasons too. Anyway they had to do mine as they had the artery opened up and trying to close it back up with the plaque in there is tough and he said it isn't if you will have a stroke again it is when or how soon.
I guess they were showing the people in the operating room how plugged it was and what it looked like. He said it was really a mess and it took quite a while cleaning it out as they want and need to get it all or just a small piece will also give you another stroke if it passes through to the brain.
Pretty sore this morning and starting to swell up along the neck. It is slit from the bottom of the ear all the way to the collar bone. Looks way nastier than the left side that we had on June 4th. Will take a shower this morning and spend most of the day here at home in bed with ice packs on every hour or so for 20-30 minutes to try and keep the swelling to a minimum.
One good thing is my tongue hasn't gotten numb this time which is a blessing all by itself!
Want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers as no doubt in my mind they all helped especially after finding out how plugged the right Carotid was and the seriousness of it all. Doctor was pretty worried as he explained it to us and he said i hope you realize how blessed you are to come through all of this, this well. I/We do feel blessed and not in just this instance but in life itself. Many pitfalls and rough patches in life but always came through them somehow and not always for the better but survived them and learned some valuable lessons along the way.
Thanks again everyone we really appreciate the kind words, prayers, and offers of help!
My bride and i have really done some hard thinking through all of this and we decided we are going to be selling our house here in Bismarck and living full time in Arizona once the house is completed down there. It was suppose to be done in July or August but was stopped after the framing, shingling, siding, windows, and exterior doors were all put on. We have to do a walk through with the electrician and plumber for where we want to put anything not normally installed in certain places. We were suppose to do that on May 14th but the stroke on May 3rd/4th put everything out of kilter. So we are hoping now to go down sometime after our 2 week checkup so guessing around first part of August to middle of August. So that will put the house completion around late September to late October we think.
My bride kept pointing out to me that i am a worrier and no matter where we are at if in Bismarck we will worry about the house in AZ and if in AZ will worry about the house in Bismarck. So to try and make life somewhat simpler to just get rid of our house here.
Anyway here is the update and once again thanks to all and we mean this from the bottom of our hearts. You all are very special to us and this is what friendship is all about! I am so thankful that i am able to thank you all as it could have very easily went the other way and turned out bad.
May our dear Lord bless you all in your lives as he continues to bless ours! :;:exactly :;:thumbsup

Wow! Glad they got it all cleaned out and blood flow restored. Sounds like it all went well!
Where in Az will you be moving to? We are at Lake Havasu in winter, and 2400 is over south of the Grand Canyon. Lots of ND get together around during the snowbird season. Maybe see you down there.

BBJ, So good to hear that your procedure went so good. These type of life moments really makes a person rethink life and how blessed we are to even be on this earth. We tend to be a bit more humble and find the finer points of life and maybe even be a bit more respectful in our words and actions. If only we could teach this to the youth. I mean I enjoy a good beer...but I heard on the news that Cirrhosis of the Liver for teens and early 20's adults is on the climbing fast. Hope your recovery goes well and you have many more good years.

Enjoy AZ!! I may end up buying my parents home down in Mesa, which I would love.

We are building in Payson which is roughly 100 miles or so N or NE of Phoenix. Around 15-25 degrees cooler than Phoenix they say.
Nice area with pine trees and desert on the same lot. Winters are just tearing my body and bones up from all the neck, back, and knee surgeries. Second day down there this past January and the deep bone ache was gone. Felt like i was in Heaven!
Had to go bad to the Doctor yesterday as been having a terrible headache on my right forehead area and kind of somewhat behind the right eye. Being that is the side they operated on they had me come in and went through another C-T Scan. At least that showed negative as they were worried about a bleeder in the brain. So hopefully that quits soon as 2 days with that throbbing is getting very very old! If it gets any worse i will be puking as it is that darn close. Don't want to puke being the Carotid is stitched up as that could be some very bad news for this fella!
Will keep you all updated as things change. Would be great seeing some of you down in AZ if it all works out.
