Round 2 of the Carotid Artery surgery is scheduled for this coming Monday July 9th.
First one had some complications but all turned out well for me. Have this Frankenstein scar on the left throat area from the bottom of my ear to the collar bone.
Left side throat is still numb from the nerve damage from surgery and could be that way for a year they said. Sucks shaving for sure. The tip of my tongue and going back about 3/4'' of an inch was numb and that is getting better everyday. That really sucks to have a numb tongue. Won't like both sides of my throat being numb but hey that is what it is going to take to fix things.
It is healing up nicely and i just hope and pray the next one goes as well.
Pain wasn't that bad and luckily i have a high pain tolerance. One thing i learned on first one, ice is your friend. Put ice packs on the incision and try to keep the swelling down as much as possible. I had a terrible left ear ache for 3-4 days from the swelling and a terrible sore throat like my glands were swollen. It felt like i had a 10-15 pound anvil inside the incision. Put ice on it every 1/2 to one hour for the swelling and in a few days it felt much better.
They said the right one more than likely will have more pain being the left side is not fully healed yet. Guess if that is all that it is i can handle that.
So if any one can spare a few more prayers for this Old Geezer i would appreciate it very much and i thank you kindly for them!
Nice to know people that one hasn't met in person that one can call dear friends.
Anyway thanks in advance and will let you know how it turns out but more than likely it won't be before the end of next week before i can give an update and you know if i don't update, things didn't go well.
