Round 2 of the Carotid Artery surgery is scheduled for this coming Monday July 9th.
First one had some complications but all turned out well for me. Have this Frankenstein scar on the left throat area from the bottom of my ear to the collar bone.
Left side throat is still numb from the nerve damage from surgery and could be that way for a year they said. Sucks shaving for sure. The tip of my tongue and going back about 3/4'' of an inch was numb and that is getting better everyday. That really sucks to have a numb tongue. Won't like both sides of my throat being numb but hey that is what it is going to take to fix things.
It is healing up nicely and i just hope and pray the next one goes as well.
Pain wasn't that bad and luckily i have a high pain tolerance. One thing i learned on first one, ice is your friend. Put ice packs on the incision and try to keep the swelling down as much as possible. I had a terrible left ear ache for 3-4 days from the swelling and a terrible sore throat like my glands were swollen. It felt like i had a 10-15 pound anvil inside the incision. Put ice on it every 1/2 to one hour for the swelling and in a few days it felt much better.
They said the right one more than likely will have more pain being the left side is not fully healed yet. Guess if that is all that it is i can handle that.
So if any one can spare a few more prayers for this Old Geezer i would appreciate it very much and i thank you kindly for them!
Nice to know people that one hasn't met in person that one can call dear friends.
Anyway thanks in advance and will let you know how it turns out but more than likely it won't be before the end of next week before i can give an update and you know if i don't update, things didn't go well.

You got it. May the lord Jesus guide every doctor and scalpel in your operation, and also may you recover rapidly.

Gonna help a Rancher friend roundup and work calves tomorrow! Used to love riding horse, roping calves though was pretty lousy at it, and dragging them to the young football weight lifter wrestling teenagers to wrestle them down for the ball removal, branding and vaccinating. My Horses got old and died, I got more back surgeries, so now I’m the unofficial vaccinater. But still love rounding up the herd with the UTV! My cowboy friends all say being a lowly vaccinators helps just as much as anyone else, keeping the flow of calves going smoothly. Lots of fun and cameraderie. Guess I can vaccinate calves on a calf table when I’m 90! No more bending and squatting!
sucks getting old BUT better to fertilize the grass from above than below! They say time marches on, but at my age time runs like an Olympic Sprinter!

good luck with that surgery Brokeback! If there’s anything i can do to help, just give a yell or email or p email or something. Being retired I’ve got lots of idle time. Happy to help in any way. I hear fishing in the sun helps carotids heal........LOL

I have said a couple of prayers for bbj this morning. Perhaps now all we believing brothers can say a prayer for a fast recovery and return to his family.

Got a call early this morning that my surgery will have to be rescheduled as a person came in during the night with heart problems and they will be needing surgery this morning. The same Doctor that is suppose to be doing my surgery will be doing this emergency heart surgery.
Hate that it has to be rescheduled but this person with the heart problems is way more needing emergency surgery than my Carotid Artery surgery.
Have it rescheduled for next Monday July 16th won't know a time until Friday afternoon sometime.
Anyways thanks everyone!
