That's how to do it.

My uncle setup a Geo Tracker with tracks for under $5,000. He is like you, and knows how to shop, and put the setup together.

Installing the cab by myself was kind of a PIA, but installing tracks wasn't too bad. Also used an aftermarket heater and the install wasn't too bad as well.

Here's mine. I now have the back panel on it and the soft doors. Next year the tracks and probably upgrade to the hard doors. I have about $19k into it already. Going with the camoplast tracks. About $4200. Another $2k for doors. And then the heater. When does it end?
It ends just before you trade it off or sell it and buy another to start the cycle all over again.

How well does that actually do in deep snow? Basically have you ever been stuck? The approach angle of mattracks has always concerned me, and reviews seem to solidify that concern.

Speaking of tracks, it looks like Camso (camoplast) came out with a new ATV track for Atv's under 500cc. Looks similar to T4S but a few inches narrower and 11 pounds lighter per track. Supposedly they are $2,600 vs $3,900 for the T4S.

It will get stuck, just ask Sub Elec !!

But it will also float over snow you can't walk across without sinking to your waist in.

The review to pay attention to is they are the best built most reliable track system built.

I have learned to not drive around like the rig is unstuckable. If you take your time and poke slowly through sketchy spots you can drive out of most stucks. It has a learning curve for sure but the places you can go are unbelievable.

4 wheelers on tracks will out 4x4 this rig. But the heater and windshield makes up for that big time.

When the snow was soft I was driving through deep snow and it was pushing up on the hood, that was fun. I have tracks all over my yard. Once you break trail you can easily go through that spot again later.

Approach angle is shitty but flotation in excellent.

On this trip the snow conditions were good and I was driving over barb wire fences and drifts that were super deep.

Speaking of Honda 700's, if anyone is looking....I have a relative in central north dakota who is looking to sell one. Its a couple years old with a half windshield, hard doors. Can't remember how many miles. Its camo. He bought it for ranching/fencing but the cargo box area is too small for him. He's switching to something bigger. I think he wants 8k for it. If anyone is interested, PM me and we can talk in more detail.
I retract this offer. Sorry. I talked to him this morning after a few wanted miles/pics and I guess he decided to keep it. My apologies!

Huff... you are reading that wrong. The curb weight is the actual vehicle weight and that is 2800. The number you cited is actually the gvwr which is curb and loaded to the recommended max.

Guy: If the Honda is free, it's really a no brainer. However are you sure you can get along with just a SXS? After all you pull a regular train with your snowmobile: portable, tub, not to mention all the stuff on the sled. Going to require serious planning. Don't skimp on the trailer. Got to be heavy duty, and should have a ramp door at least in the rear. A V nose with a front ramp would be perfect. Drive in, drive out. Don't be seduced by the "no power steering" crowd. If you had it you would love it. My 2 cents.
