The river from Washburn to Riverdale is loaded...one cool bird. When they fly over honking, I still have to walk outside to look.

The fields must be bare if you're seeing geese ? Any open water over that way ? It seems awfully early but those geese know things that computers can't teach us.

I assume the geese in the carpio area were wintering down on the river. They are pretty brave to head north so early with no open water except for below the darling dam and bridges.

Pairs and quads on the Sheyenne last week already. Water's flowing OVER the ice as of two days ago. I'm not ready to cry spring yet, but with very little snow, these warm temps, and the flowing water has me wondering.

Birds were piling up the river all morning. Snows were a hundred miles south of the border as of around noon in the James river valley.

Thought maybe I might see some today on my route with the way things are opening up. Must be nice to head out to a place and not have to check a phone, computer, tv, or radio to get a report on weather, ice conditions, etc... just go baby!
