Mink oil pros: Improves water and salt resistance. Makes you feel like a proper frontiersman.
Mink oil con: Can turn rancid in warm weather and make your boots smell funky. Not good for killing critters in close range with arrows.

Guywhoknowboots I've been using mink oil for a long time keeps the leather in good condition no cracks. I have a pair of boots that (im not kidding)are over 10 years old that im thinking of putting a new set of treads on. still waterproof and the leather is still good . Just bought a pair of pronghorns with a little American flag on them myself last year, broke in now.

ive been using obenaufs (sp?) for a few years now at the advice from horsager. no compaints. actually the stuff is great. no clue what its made from. i use snoseal when trying to eek out another year or two on boots as it seems tough on the leather but sure is waterproof

i throw the boots in the oven at a low temp 150-200* for a few minutes then apply liberally (liberally = a lot, not liberal in the gay sense)
