Just have to say...some of you guys are very fortunate to be able to find your own night crawlers, the soil I have...I get ZERO...even earth worms are hard to come by around my yard.

Dad used to catch/keep 300-500 crawlers at a time in 3 different styro coolers with air holes. He'd save rainwater or make a drive across town to the Missouri for river water to mix the bedding. He'd put a piece of newspaper over the top of the bedding then put the cover on the cooler which would keep the bulk of the worms from getting out. As others have said, keep the bedding clean of dead/injured ones. Worm food and coffee grounds.

crawlers are a PITA - hee hee

A friend from Sioux Falls who fishes a ton and lives in a neighborhood with lots and lots of crawlers, his theory was this:

"A flat of crawlers and a trip to the Chiropractor costs the same."

Spinners are for sissies.... Jigs and cranks are what real men use! #$%^&>

You hook the crank to your jig like a minnow?

I buy crawlers in the styrofoam boxes, 2 dozen in a box. Throw them in the garage fridge, don't touch em, they last for weeks if not months. If they're cold they don't need to eat or poop.
