You don't need to do it in the dark at all. In fact, if you go the reflective route, you need some light shining on it.
As far as scope adjustments, it depends on the scope, but most are done through an on-screen menu. Even on thermal scopes that have a "traditional" scope look, the "turrets" are not used for reticle adjustment. Instead, they may be a battery compartment or a menu selector knob.

Went out Saturday and got to watch one howl at is from 400 yds away that was cool. Are you using more vocals or prey distress at night? We did 4 sets got responses at all four but nothing coming in.

For the most part, I follow the Randy Anderson sequence. I start with a couple howls, give it a few minutes, then go into prey distress, and end with coyote distress / fight. It usually ends up being 20-30 minutes.
Coyotes can and have come at any point, including hauling ass to just a couple howls.
1 tip:
If they howl back, but don't come no matter what you play, try to get closer. Sometimes you just need to get inside their "bubble" to break them loose.

Shoot at 50 yds then move with buttons the cross hairs to match the hit. Should be sighted? Do you sight further...100yds? How far do you need to shoot if you plan to shoot 2-300? Or do you just zero at 50 a couple inches high?

You freeze the frame and then move to point of impact. I started at 50 and then sighted it in at 100 so i should not have to worry about anything out to 200. I got an lrf with mine that shows the hold over i will need to get it out and test it at further range but i was shooting a 2-3" group at 200 with my ar that is not a high quality one.

The nearest building is over 1400 yards away. We're shooting at a downward angle. Still, I take your point. The background on the 3rd set may have looked sketchier than it was.

I'd try to sight at 100 yards if possible.
You'd need to run your numbers through a ballistic calculator to know what you'd need for a further (like 200 yard) zero. Depending on your rifle and scope height, you may actually need to be a bit low at 50 yards to be zeroed at 200.

Like Kurtr said, you freeze-frame and move the reticle to the bullet-hole. That’ll get you close.

After that initial “get close”, I sighted mine in dead-on @ 200yds, just like my other hunting rifles. For mine, each pixel or “click” is about 2/3” @ 200yds.

53 V-Max @ 3100FPS sighted dead on @ 200 is just under 7” low @ 300. At present with a 640x512 thermal w/native 3x and 1/2 resolution 6x PIP, 300 is about as far as I’m comfortable with and closer is WAY better.

I get it but a bullet can ricochet and travel a long ways. Glad you edited it, I like your videos.

There lies my problem....not sure I get anything you just typed lol. Pixels, resolution. Me and tech...no good. Im looking between a oneleaf Mars and the nocpix l35r. Both are 640 resolution which not sure I get but what everyone recommends and has range finding. I assume they'll have detailed directions on how to sight?

This is the scope i have my friend got the nocpix you are looking at they both zero the same just different menu but this will give you an idea of how it works. 640 is the resolution i have a 384 and i can make out deer and coyotes at over 1000 yds with the 640 it will be even better and especially when you zoom in as that cuts your resolution in half.

Yeah, even with 22 Creedmoor laser beam, 300 is a long shot with what is essentially a 3x optic. I like them inside of 100 if I can get it.
