Wont be long sets but bought that thermal and want to use it bad
How does the cold weather effect the batteries on them.

Cold weather is the best time to call. They need to fill the furnace ( stomach ) to stay warm. All I ever used on the cold nights were distress sounds

Im guessing they will not last more than a couple hours but i got 4 with mine and you can charge them in the vehicle. Im sure the batteries will out last me in that cold.

I can say for certain that an AR will run fine @ -15F ambient.

How does the cold weather effect the batteries on them.
The 1st answer is, it depends. Are you leaving it on all the time or do you have it in standby? Are you running an LRF? Is the LRF on continuous or single-press measurements?

I have to put my scope in standby if I don’t want to leave it on, and remember to turn it back on when/if I need it.

My scanner has a sensor that puts it into standby if it’s not close to my face for a couple seconds.

Good 18650’s will go about 45Min. 26650’s about 2X that when everything is on.

Iray IBP-2’s last about like an 18650.

All of them will fool you if you let them warm up in the vehicle a bit and neglect to swap them out prior to the next sit. It’ll look like they’re back to almost full charge, they’re not when they cool back down.

Do it! You will not be disappointed. Duckman1302 and I kicked around the idea for a long time. Then watching all of the Suppressyourself videos we just couldn't take it anymore and dove head first into it. We have had a damn blast all winter. So much fun.

Calling in subzero temps is about as fun as fishing in 20-30 mph winds I've lived to learn. Love it all but sure do love me some fall and spring calling!

My nephew runs his thermal off a 5000ma handwarmer. Uses his phone cord to connect.
Haven't seen a system I like yet for managing the cord. Sooner or later it's in the way, and then it gets ripped out of the plug in side of the scope and potentially buggers up the connection. It never buggers up the cheap side in the battery, always the expensive side component the battery is connected to, it's as sure as the law of gravity.

Went to Mt years ago calling. Was _37 at daybreak and high for the day was _25. Made 11 sets that day and called coyotes on every one. They came BOMBING in!.
Shooting was sub par. Phalanges wouldn't work proper.
