I run closer to 40-1. No reason to have oil spewing out the exhaust.

I use opti2. One pouch per gallon and you can use it in any 2 cycle engine no matter what the mix ratio. Been using this stuff in my jiffy legend for years.

I use Amsoil Synthetic and run 80-1 and no problems. You don't smell it running and I can drill 8 holes and never stink up the house.

I also run Opti 2 in all my two strokes and have for years. I do mix a bit richer, but use the same gas from engines calling for 24:1 to 50:1.

That's crazy talk, yeah if you are going to drill 8 holes all day that would work. There is no way I would put 80:1 in my 30 jiffy auger. I drill on Avg between 20 to 40 +/- holes in a day. With being that lean would run too hot and score a piston. Crazy but if it works for you congrats.

I've been doing it for years, not a bit of trouble. We normally drill 30+ holes a day every weekend.

I have become a big fan of these. Easy to carry not as cheap as a gallon of gas but very convenient. I run them in all my small 2 stroke engines and have not had a problem.

Thats good stuff too because it's so stable, they say the shelf life is a couple years, although it never lasts that long anyway. Good for stuff like a garden tiller you use once or twice a year.

Holy moly I just did some investigating on this Amsoil 100:1 or 80:1 for older jiffy 30 and the reason is that the synthetic oils they use doesn't burn off completely allowing for a leaner mixture. I guess if I actually seen someone use a auger all day with 100:1 or 80:1 then I would be a believer.

how's the cap? Decent/durable? If so I'll buy one, use it as my gas can. One gallon plastic cans are bigger than necessary. Other "little bit extra" alternatives for hauling a pint?

One filled tank on an auger before leaving the truck is usually enough but insurance is nice.

I use it to, the price tag sucks, but my auger starts and runs better when it's really cold.

Lots of people run that mix in their augers. I used to run it in mine and still do during warmer weather. My auger seems to start better with the trufuel when it's below zero.

Amsoil is some great oil. I use 100:1 on my new powerheads. I still stick with the jiffy oil on my jiffy though. I like the exhaust to smell and sound like a harley.

$23/gallon for gas is a tough pill to swallow.

Yup, I have a 25 + year old Jiffy model 30, and I mix the Jiffy oil and a gallon of gas when I run out, and I use this same gas on my chain saw, weed whacker, auger, and leaf blower. Not sure what mix is recommended for all these items, but never had an issue. Figure if I have to have 5 different gas cans for all my junk, then I am in too deep.
