Small lake by Devils.... 4 inches approx 25 feet from shore. 1st 2 feet from shore unstable. Next weekend I will be giving it a try. Drove all around the region and still alot of patchy open water on small lakes with the main lake wide open.

Gonna be some bad ice again this year. Was hoping it would freeze a good 6-8" before the first snow but no such luck. I'll wait until other guinea pigs start driving diesels around.;:;popcorn

There will be guys on Nelson bay this weekend for sure. East side of the bridge @ Beaver bay also. It doesn't take long with single digit daytime highs for the next few days.

I myself use this tried and true technique of monkey see monkey do.. January 7 to drive on, with a permanent in southeast nodak is my prediction (about 20 inches I like )

I usually wait for someone to drive on ice before I'll walk on it, but now it looks like we're going to be screwed just trying to access the ice due to too much snow.

How can there be reports of 4" from Lake Darling? Who the hell would be out there lately? Although I wouldn't doubt it'll be even thicker in a few more days! It's Frickin freezing outside!! The wind isn't supposed to stop blowing for at least another week.

Ill be out somewhere this weekend in south central ND. Not quite sure where yet, don't have any ice reports. I'm more concerned about access at this point. Looking at the 10 day forecast, pretty much everything will be a go by next weekend...brrrr!

Audubon is froze over. Not sure on the thickness and access to the ice will be a challenge.

I gotta run down to Bismarck Friday...may stop on the way back and check thickness on Audubon. But yea access may be tough...won't be able to get to the 3 Mile Corner bays even with the 4x4. Will be a challenge even getting to the south bays on the refuge.

I would be coal lake east of underwood had walkable ice. It was froze as far as I could see last week and hell with this cold should be making ice quick. I have never fished it but heard the summer eyes were on the smallish end lots of 12-13" stuff but if you after ice and some dinner there's probably one of the safer options. Geese do keep that sucker open in the middle but I couldn't see any open spots

Access is suppose to be from the south. By the haul bridge road but access may be the tricky part on coal lake as well
