take the deal ------ you didnt want that water logged one anyway. Its all relative -- the newer full warranty (no water intrusion) you may pay more but in the end you get to keep the boat longer if that is your choice or if you trade it early it will be worth more.

Now with regards to when to buy a boat --- Recession years are always best --- or late falls are the best time -- you dont have to worry about putting money down. I bet by this weekend the ramps our empty except for pleasure boaters. Marine dealers have to deal with a few fisherman compared to the vast many Toon owners. Toons is what makes the dough.

I hate losing out on good deals and understand your frustration. Being in sales myself, I also understand how the deal went down. Unfortunately, you can’t take people’s word to the bank like you used to be able to. Another downside of our electronic, social media run world in my opinion.

i do like the response of Mr Kovash on here. Seems like a pretty stand up guy trying to make the best of both worlds.

After selling my boat this spring, I certainly can't blame someone for selling when they have a chance. I had several times where a guy was "pretty sure I want to buy it, I'll get back to you tomorrow" and never heard back from them. I can't imagine a business would be able to hold off on a sale very often just based on a stranger's word.

I was going to buy that used 2060 to! Can I get one at cost?

Good on you for trying to make the customer happy Pat. I may have to pop in when it's time to buy a new boat.

Bought a new Skeeter from Kovash in December and got a good deal. Pat treated me well and it was an easy transaction. Have called them a few times since and they have been very helpful.

Had a similar experience with Kupper Chevrolet last year. Decided to upgrade to newer pickup from 2008. Puklich had nice 2013 new trade and gave me fair trade offer. Kupper just had a 2015 trade on Saturday. Saw it Saturday afternoon. Talked to salesman on phone. Told him we would look at it Monday. Was late Saturday afternoon. Got an email Monday afternoon that pickup would be ready and upfront after work. Was waiting for my wife to get home. At 5:30 she got home. Thought I better call because we were late. The salesman said they sold it Saturday. Total bullshit! Got a survey and I was not nice. Sales manager contacted me and stated they would never do that and asked for me to send him the email. I sent email. Never a reply back or an apology. Purchased the pickup at Pucklich.

Interesting. I've been the party on the other side. It was at Bismarck Honda. Was one of those days it seemed everyone was out car shopping. I see one I like parked by the front door. I ask the salesman working with me "what's the story on that?" He says "well let me check". He proceeds to chat with a fellow salesman near the car and then reports back to me that a lady was on her way from Minot?? and that if it checked out she'd be buying it. My salesman said she was a ways out still and that "it's a car for sale on our lot and if you'd like to test drive it you can."

I test drove it, said I'd take it, and once I started the paperwork my salesman walked over to the other and told him to call the lady off. Neither salesman seemed overly concerned or tore up about it. Appeared to be just another day in the office.

From the stories on here I'm beginning to think this is typical. I guess I get it. It's likely not a good business practice to turn down cash on the table based on the likelihood of someone else showing up to finish a deal.

This thread has taught me something: "I'd like to purchase __________ , may I put a non-refundable down payment on it over the phone with my credit card? I will pick it up by ________ if that works for you?

Pat has bent over backward for me in the past. There might be dealerships to bash on here but Kovash is not one of them. Sounds like just smart business.

Just south of Canada eh
If you want to talk to the owner go to the bar in the Moorhead Mall (Vics) after 5.

I have bought parts thre and had them work on a motor and was satisfied. Can't afford to buy any of his boats :)

If not there try Micks...
Bought a boat from Pat in 07' and got a really fair deal...since then have had him do a few things on a different boat I didn't buy from him. His camper on Devil's is right next to a buddy...has offered free advice on issues while up vacationing or helped over the phone.
Pat - if you're reading this my kill switch still works!
