Don’t even know what you guys are bitching about eyexer and freedom. Communist? How is it any different than what’s going on in the US? I have both my vaccines and booster or apparently wouldn’t be going up there. My choice, right. You do you and I’ll do me. Is that alright with you two arrogant fucks?

Lincoln, kinda...
Those greenback pics are beautiful. I admit a tinge of jealousy.

The requirements to get in though, are pretty stringent. And they're not going to lessen anytime soon.

I spent a last week in AZ, and while it's a highly right-leaning, republican state, I had a grand time not worrying one iota about COVID. While there, I spoke with Canadians who were at Barrett-Jackson, and they were not happy with what they had to go through, to return home.

PS - there are lots of big walters right here in ND.

Lots of canucks in AZ. Some of them are going through Mexico to get home to satisfy their residency requirements. Kinda weird to think that you need to go through Mexico to get to Canada from the USA. But it's true...

You do whatever you want. If you don’t want to stand for anything so be it. But don’t piss and moan when shit you don’t like happens. And you might as well fish the fucking prairie knights tournament too ;:;rofl

But I am standing for something....and it's opposite of your view. Sorry you can't handle others opinions.

Pretty great weekend up north. Two of us fished 1 1/2 days, caught 50+ fish with over half being in the 18-22" range. Three between 26-27" were the only bigger ones which is a little slower than average for big fish but the weather was great and we didn't break anything so I'd call it a success!

Taking a fishing trip to Canada also supports a lot of Canadian people and small businesses who also don't like what their gov't is doing.

I sure find it funny when all you patriots scream "freedoms!!" but dislike it when a person actually exercises their freedoms.

For the most part it was pretty smooth. Needed a negative test within 72 hours of crossing so got tested Wednesday morning and had results back that night. Downloaded and filled out the ArriveCAN app prior to getting to the border which only took about 10 minutes and wasn't too hard. At the border the agent asked the standard questions plus a few of the typical covid ones. He scanned the barcode on the ArriveCAN apps so had all of that info. The only really dumb thing was I was "randomly selected" to take a rapid test. They gave me the kit with instructions to take the test when I get to my destination. called the number with the test and they said I need to schedule the test with one of their nurses who watch you do the test through a video call. You then package up the test and they send someone to collect it and 2-3 days after they receive the test they let you know the results and if positive will need to quarantine. By the time I got to hotel it was after hours to test so the service told me to test on Saturday and they would send someone to pick it up on Sunday and then either tue or wed they would let me know results. I told them multiple times I am leaving sunday so there is no point. The guy was persistent but when ask if I HAVE TO take the test he said "well just try to complete the test". I did not take the test, came home yesterday afternoon and Canadian authorities have yet to track me down and send me to jail. It was annoying and some additional effort but for me it was worth it. I'll likely be going back at least once more in March. I've heard they are planning to start loosening restriction in the next couple weeks but don't know any details.

Where did you stay and what was the the fishing pressure like? I can't imagine that it's too crazy with US fisherman. Hope those business can make it, but I truly don't know how much longer they can survive. All those summer "fly-in" resorts haven't had a dollar in income in 2 seasons. I'd be curious to know how much "financial" impact South Beach Casino has had without the American's coming to stay, eat, and gamble at their establishment.

Selkirk Inn. There were a few other rigs in the lot but I don't think they were full. At least not with fisherman like they usually are. The bar next door was def quieter than usual. Smoke-n-fish (bait shop) was dead. As far as pressure it was crazy how quiet it was. I've been up there 15+ times and never seen this few people on the ice. Zero trucks due to snow which eliminates almost all of the locals. Not nearly the normal numbers of american rigs at warner road or pruden creek. Planning to go back next weekend.

Extension is needed but just barely. There is a lot of hard snow on the ice as well which adds to the depth. I had a 12" on all weekend and made it through everywhere everywhere we went. I have an 8" that I bring with as well just in case.

Heading back up this weekend for round #2. Anybody been up there recently who could share a report? I've heard fishing is picking up.

Let us know how you did. Leaving on the 17th. Have the border crossing rules changed? Was hoping to not have to take the covid test before going.

Fishing was good last Saturday Sunday and Monday for numbers of fish, most in that 18-22 inch range.
Saturday night what was a 1 ft pressure ridge north of prudens blew up into a 6-8 ft impassable sucker for a long ways. So we fished the south side of it in 11 ft and at 10:30 my buddy caught a hell of a nice fish in the video below.
As far as fishing for us allot has changed since 2020, the water is WAY clearer from zebra mussels maybe??
Anyways the days of big fish flying in and crushing anything being ripped that rattles seems to be almost over for us anyways. Deadsticks with spoons definitely caught the bigger fish for us. A rattle bait worked to bring them in on the livescope and then just subtle jigging with a spoon with a live minnow on seemed to work best for us. The 18-22 inchers still crushed the rattle stuff but the big girls seemed gun shy. Tried the mouth yesterday morning, lots of fish but many were like 10 inches think we caught one 23 incher and so we moved east. Thats our report anyways, good luck!
Here's a little video of our best one.
