With ice fishing getting close we are planning to do an earlier trip up to Lake Winnipeg this year along with our later trip. Does anyone have a recommendation on homes to rent for our stay? We have 8 guys and would like to do a house again as it worked out really well for us last year. The place we stayed in was by Selkirk but we would like to be closer to the lake for this trip. I looked on VRBO and it looks like most places are booked up already. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Its going to be hard to find something this close to the season, especially when you want something close. I was booking cabins in matlock for this year in January.

i was thinking the casino - and rooms exist - however if the ice is thick at xmas -- my q is i assume i am going to a need a sled or 4 wheeler. Do they have anything like at lake of the woods where they take you out to a shack. I will drive on if safe to do so at that time.

Not really. there are a few guides that will put you on fish but you stay VERY mobile. This isnt like LOW where you sit in a shack in the same spot all day and can have good fishing. Typically, if you aint moving, you aint catching.
