So you honesty think that winning 2-3 BIG money tournaments in a row is all skill and nothing else? And they are the only ones that have skill and all other anglers are idiots, yes you can't prove it, but something off if you think about it.
I guess the one they failed the lie detector test on in 2021 they weren't paid.

Now they have a civil suit against that tournament.

For sure something is off but its just like racing the guy thats winning all the time is he cheating or is he just that much better till you can prove it with hard evidence its just talk. The hard evidence is this one tourney that the lead came pouring out of the fish. Do i think they cheated the whole time i do but no one can prove it.

Not sure if this was said before but these ass clowns would have won this tournament without stuffing the fish full of lead, that is IF they were no other cheating involved with the 5 fish they claimed to catch during the tournament and that is a big if.

So here a little food for thought. If i was a lawyer in the rules does it state that you cant stuff you fish full of lead? Also does it state that if you are caught that you can face criminal charges or you are just dq'ed . I would think a good lawyer would get them out of any criminal charges civil ones might be easier to get to stick

ike brought up tony christianson in his podcast --- read about that guy google him ---- that guy had it going on and his camera man nor his fishing partner knew what the hell he was doing. FLW didnt either.

Next time your in Devils Lake with your backhoe - put a cut in a road in the middle of the night and leave a hole like christianson had on top of your dog kennel and you might just win the tourney.

Dat's flippin for ya
wait now - what? where can I hear this story?

Which story:

Christianson -- he would put underwater holding pen with some type of top so the fish didnt swim out but his heavy jig would go in. The fish had been in pen for quite some time and they were hungry. He would flip in and catch a biggen over and over on the same spot. Search it on the web - this guy won some serious money and FLW didnt really have it clear in the rules -- they setttled on something or nuther.

DL --- was a while back --- when the water went down or up over 281. Anyway some dude in the middle of the night north of minnewaukin made a cut in the road so a boat could go through. I dont remember if the winner fished in der -- but do remember a angler that did and he did good -- he was from SD. Everyone pointed the finger at him for hiriing the backhoe dude. All i know is to run that back hoe down that road with the water up like it was in the middle of the night - that dude had some balls. He had to travel quite a ways to put that cut in. Plus nobody ever found out who did it and the cut sucked after the water went down dinged my boat.

PS --- i am assuming most of the cheating in ND goes on as such. Two go to the tourney --- they are all buddies with good intent. One of the boats ends up with a somewhat decent set of fish and the other has a kicker or or two. They phone each other and end up sharing the kickers to the boat that has a decent catch. I bet that goes on more than you think. They split the money. How do you prevent that. Big lake many places to meet and trade off.

Especially with "patrol boats" consisting of 4 guys drinking beer on a pontoon flying a big orange flag. That would be like NDHP patrolling 94 on a moped.

And those buddies wouldn't even have to trade fish to cheat. Simply receiving a tip during the tournament is cheating and is impossible to prevent.

All tournament anglers know cheating is rampant, and many use that fact to justify culling or receiving a tip from a friend. If you're not cheating in a tournament, you're very likely finishing behind someone who is.

A couple of thoughts, from a non-competitive fisherman.

Nope. Can't prove that they cheated before. Impossible. If they were allowed to fish tournaments going forward however, it would be interesting to see how their numbers would stack up against their competitors. I bet if they were forced to be squeaky clean, they wouldn't be winning as often as they have in the past.

Nope. They can't prove that this was their first time cheating. Someone else said it. They were pretty brazen and blatant about it. I mean, they stuffed nearly 8 lbs down the throats of 5 fish. I bet they took their sweet ol time working up to the point at which they were caught.

Also, a question. What was the point of stuffing some whole fillets down the throats of the fish? I get that a fillet wouldn't show up on a metal detector, or maybe not on an xray, but why fillets AND lead?

Can't quite figure that one...

I'm guessing they wrapped the weights with the fillets to try to make them less noticeable while handling. Try to cushion them so to speak, a hard weight that size would be pretty easy to feel I would think.

They cheated for sure. But nobody can prove it. There’s no question they had way too much success. I’m most surprised somebody didn’t have better proof at an earlier time.

I have heard this suggested before and it is probably true.

I heard a different theory this weekend, as to why the fillets were stuffed down the fish. Could have been to keep the weights in place.

Above someone mentioned that the fillets might have been wrapped around the weights. That's a possibility too. Hadn't thought of either of these ideas.

Switching gears, I caught a 217 lb catfish at the tailrace on saturday night. It was shorter in length than I would have expected, and lumpier too.

I released it. No pics. Sorry.

Ah come on JayKay.....the 217 lb catfish would have dragged your behind into the water and all the way down river, you could have almost waterskiied holding on to the pole....

Yeah, but it was REALLY heavy, for how big it was. Lazy bugger just laid on the bottom. It's like it was full of lead or somethin'.
