depends on how much you want to spend...AGM's are good and worth the money, however with that being said my last to battery purchases were the Energizer branch from Sam's club, on my 8th year with boat and only replacing them once....it seems like everyone has had issues with just about every brand out there, IMO it's more important on how you take care and maintain them as opposed to what brand you by

Moved here from MN a year ago. I've run a few lead acid batteries over the years some better than others, Interstate was good. But after 3 years they all seem to go downhill. I switched to Cabelas AGM's and I have never looked back. I have owned 4 to date a 24 I used to run to start a 175hp Optimax and my electronics believe it or not, but since switched to the AGM 30 back there. I run two AGM 27's up front. They hold a charge very well and they withstand many a hard freeze. I keep my boat in a unheated garage and leave them in the boat. Plug em in once in Jan over winter just to check them. I have not had one fail yet going on 4 years. Cabelas puts these on sale often so keep an eye out for these. I highly recommend them.

The last batteries I bought we Energizer 27"s from Sams Club. I ran them fro 6 years on a 24 volt system before they finally died. I believe they were at the time like $45 a battery cheaper than Interstates.

I've read and heard good things about the Walmart Everstart Maxx batteries. I just purchased an Everstart Maxx Marine 29DC for my trolling motor so i guess we will see.

That's what I run in my little boat and never run it dry even on a full day of trolling with nothing but the trolling motor.

Walmart for me good warranty and Walmart is everywhere. Got 5 years on my trolling batteries hoping they make it the summer. Like the price also.

Battery doctor. They carry Crown batteries, best wet cells out there for comparable price to Interstate.

I rn interstate for 3 years and had shit luck with them, switched to walmart MAXX and have awesome luck with them, like stated above keep them full of water and charge them throughout the winter and they seem to last I think one of my trolling batteries is an 09 and the other is a 2010 model so far better than any of the interstate junk I have put in, when these finally bite the bullet I may try the crown batteries from battery doc, the ratings seem to be pretty decent.

I got 5 seasons out of two Walmart Everstart Marine group 27's running my 24 volt Terrova. From I have gathered, thats about average for most marine batteries. They were still working the 6th season but starting to not last as long.

Tips to keep them lasting (wet-cell's at least)
1. Don't run them down to low
2. Make sure to charge them ASAP after use with a good charger
3. Check water level at least once year. Used distilled water to replenish. DON'T LET IT GET LOW!
4. Be sure they are fully charged before putting away for winter. Especially if they are stored outside where it get's cold. A fully charged battery won't freeze.

The wall mart batts in my boat are 5 Y/O and will last another year maybe.. If they piss me off I'll buy Walmart again. 36V with starting batt.

Batteries really seem to be a crap shoot. It seems no matter what brand or quality you buy, you either get great service life or you get stuck with a crappy one. Even vehicle batteries seem that way. I have gotten 8 years out of an el-cheapo off the shelf at the hardware store, and then get only 2 years out of a high priced/top quality battery. Like mentioned above, make sure you don't run them stone dead or let them sit dead. Get the charger on when you get home.

I have had luck putting my vex charger on them after I have them good and charged up. It brings them back up the last little bit and I have added a year or two to the camper battery doing this.

Go with Walmart, cheaper and there really is no guarantee how long they will last no matter the brand. The Walmart employee told me when the truck stops there to drop off batteries that he sees the green ones (Interstate) ones up front. In other words, both made by the same place.
