Today we remember all those who made the ultimate sacrifice and gave their lives so that we could live free.

If you want to thank a Veteran for their service today there are Veterans Cemeteries in every state in the US, every local cemetery in the US has Veterans buried in it. Go to a cemetery and find a Veteran there and tell them THANKS for serving.

I'm getting ready to head over to Flagstaff for 2 grave side services and then hear a buddy of mine speak at the VFW.

For those of you with family members that have passed on and those of you with friends that have gone on ahead of you, you're in my prayers today and everyday.

I wish all of you a quiet and peaceful day.

My bride's Dad was POW in WW II in the Battle of the Bulge. The stories he used to tell us. Wouldn't open up to the rest of the family but for some reason he did for us and we cherished every word he would tell us. Shared his happy times and cried with him on his sad times.

In all of our travels my bride and I always stop at the Veterans Cemeteries and walk around looking at tombstones and the dates and what branch they served in. Always amazed no matter which one we stop at. Easy to pass the day away looking and thinking about these
brave souls!
May they all rest in peace!

2400 that's a good idea, but I think they are in a better place so I think I will thank the living like you. It's fellows like you that are the reason I have the freedom to sit at my keyboard today (unless the wife takes that away). So thank you 2400. Thank you for years protecting me and those I love. I didn't go to the military and it's part of the reason I work with the Sheriff's dept. now. Trying to serve my community because while I was in college I was not serving my country like you did. In life one feels a little empty if you don't serve people at some time. May God grant you peace today as you remember the good times and the sad times.

Nobody cherishes PEACE more than a soldier. We must always remember those who stood the line before us, those who stood the line with us, and those who now stand the line FOR us. To all those who stood and are standing the line, I say THANK YOU!!!

For their sacrifice for Honor, Duty, Country.... a thank you hardly seems enough.

Cherish our Freedoms, they come with a steep price.

I always buy a few extra flowers and place them on graves that seem to be forgotten.

just got back from Sherwoods Memorial Day service. For the last 81 years the Canadian Legion has came down to the border and exchanged flags and a shot of whiskey with the Sherwood Legion Post and then accompanied the Americans into town to be honored at the roll call service. They have been accompanied by representatives of the RCMP and the last several years a young group of drum and bagpipe corps has came down and marched with and it is a very nice memorial. It was said today that it is the only cross border service on Memorial day.

It is a solemn thing as the lights go down in the gym to see the pictures or those who served and died played out on the screen. So many pictures of young men and a few women that gave the ultimate sacrifice on the battle field and those that served and passed on later in life.

The sound of taps playing in the darkend gym with the white tombs of Arlington and other veterans cemetaries playing on the screen reminds one of what was given by those brave young men and women and why we must never forget the cost of freedom.

Have an honored Memorial Day.

THE FINAL INSPECTION

The soldier stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

'Step forward now, soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?'

The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't,"
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.

But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime,
When the bills just got too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fears...
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

"Step forward now, you soldier,
You've borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."

If you care to offer the smallest token
of recognition and appreciation
for our military,
please pass this on and
pray for our men and women
who have served, and are
currently serving our country.
And pray for those who have given
the ultimate sacrifice for freedom...

COLORSDON'TRUN!

This was a copy and paste from an email message and the pics in the email didn't post. The 5 near the top were emblems from the 5 branches of service and the pic near the bottom was a soldier all equipped for combat in the middle east.
