p.s. Mclean Bottoms is Corps of Engineers owned for a reason. It was purchased specifically for inundation when they were to run Oahe at full pool and into its Exclusive Flood Control zone. It's a bit of a stretch to refer to it as "flooded" when it's supposed to be the bottom of the lake every so often. And for that matter, Oahe is not yet even in its Exclusive Flood Control zone.

Inundated is a better word for what's taking place down there.

in·un·date
ˈinənˌdāt/
verb
past tense: inundated; past participle: inundated

  • 1.
overwhelm (someone) with things or people to be dealt with.
"we've been inundated with complaints from listeners"
synonyms:overwhelm, overrun, overload, bog down, swamp, besiege, snow under, bombard, glut "we have been inundated with complaints"

  • 2.
    flood.
"the islands may be the first to be inundated as sea levels rise"
synonyms:flood, deluge, overrun, swamp, drown, submerge, engulf "a flood inundated the temple"

If I was worried about vocabulary lesson I would point out there's an A in MaClean if we're going to get all of our terminology down to the nitpicky level! Not sure why it's a pissing match I certainly wasn't going Obi-Wan and complaining about it I actually quite enjoy it when MaClean floods ohhh ahhhh i mean gets "inundated" (same fucking thing) because it makes for some of the best carp hunting around.

I guess that's what I get for sticking up for a guy. As long as you brought up the issue of complaining does the placement of barricades at fox Island boat ramp ring a bell ?

You didn't stand up for me you stood up for the common sense use of the English language. But it's clear that Allen was inferring or at least came off that I was somehow unhappy with MaClaen bottoms flooding and blaming it on the corp. This is where you come in because you act like a corp is doing something wrong whereas I view it as they've done a pretty damn good job where you're always looking for a reason to point fingers at them doing a bad job I choose to look at the full picture and see that they're constrained by multiple groups and don't have a lot of leeway and because of that they have done a fairly commendable job. Making a deal out of flooded versus inundated is sort of like a Hunter saying I didn't kill an animal I harvested it...... whatever floats your boat i guess but it's still the same thing. Luckily we got all sorts of water to float boats nowadays.

Take a look again at what I posted flooded is a synonym for inundated

Definition of synonym 1 : one of two or more words or expressions of the same language that have the same or nearly the same meaning in some or all senses

Ah yeah what's your point? Like I said you stood up for common sense use of the English language I.E. you pointed out that they are two words with the same meaning.

Ok and what's the rub that I didn't go back and fix the auto correct on not capitalizing it? This is on a Samsung tablet and for whatever reason they have an inherent flaw at times where they will capitalize random words for no good reason and it will automatically decapitalize other words that should be capitalized.

This latest development makes me laugh, out loud even.

The only reason I brought it up is because there are people in the Bismarck/Mandan area that are awfully sensitive to the word "flood" and I want to make sure that we all understand that this little bout of high water does not meet the locally derived definition of a "flood". No more, no less.

And yeah, while I only live a few miles from the rifle range, I always forget if it's Maclane, McLean, etc. Probably because I don't know who it's named after.
