I always thought that the fish moved some but was proven wrong twice this weekend they move alot. One fish caught caught here by mobridge was tagged in washburn in april a 26.5" and another tagged in washburn was caught down by bushes landing north of Pierre dont know the size of that one. Crazy how far they traveled

Most fish that size will survive the gauntlet on their way thru Bis/Man( majority of pre-spawn females are released, even by "weekend" anglers. Unfortunately most won't survive the tourneys in August where they carve them up.

I agree. I think they move quite a bit. Back when SDSU did that study and tagged all those fish they say they found that they didn't move so much. I caught about 5 or so tagged ones back then, even one with the $100 reward. I didnt information back on 3 at least but one was tagged a week earlier in Mobridge up Grand River n caught it in Yates.

Had 2 in the boat same day that were tagged one month prior at least 50 river miles upstream from the north-south segment of Sak.

Don't need a tagging study to understand walleye run up rivers in the spring but it's interesting and fun to quantify some of their movements.

Just look at how far they travel on the Great Lakes and it’s pretty easy to figure out
