Have a friend that has one, he swears by it. They have 2 models out there, $300 & $500. I've used one once, they're was 2 of us in the stand and we still had a doe blow. But also had a couple that didn't. The unit is several years old and wasn't fully charger either. Not sure how big of a difference that makes.

Snake oil?

Lots of variable opinions out there. Some swear by it and others don't. I don't use one as playing the wind is part of what makes hunting so enjoyable to me, but have several freinds that are great deer hunters that swear by them. If using one will give you the confidence to spend more time in the stand, then by all means go get one. There is NO SUBSTITUTE for time on stand. Good Luck!!

Nope - not snake oil. Ozone is a a nasty oxidant - so the hope is that it rips apart any scent molecules before it rips apart your clothing - specifically rubber bits/pieces - like elastic.

In my early days any room with TVs and other electronics got a slow dose of ozone (created by HV generating ozone from air - HV was necessary with tube technology). So any rubber bands kept in those rooms went to crap in just months. Maybe some of you older types remember finding rubber bands that were crumbly and thought WTF?

I agree with this... and from the research I've seen on the ozonics and ozone it will most likely allow you more sits in a stand before you burn it up because you will leave less of a scent footprint every time you get out... even the guys from ozonics will tell you that the ozone generator for the cigarette lighter in your truck is a good thing (and they don't make that) on the effects on plastics (good to know) don't put it in your truck

Just another Gizmo to fuel Americans propensity to consume material possessions... Play the wind, we will never beat a whitetails god given advantage, its nose.

My favorite was a guy in stand had a few does walk by and he went into his ozonic speel and I just had to laugh. He takes out the puffer and sure enough the puffs moved the way the does were but for some reason he left out the point that for every foot horizontal the dust moved it movied vertically two feet. Guy was out there on a hot day ...the thermals were so strong he could have been eating habanero bacon burger in the deer wouldn't had a fricken clue. Over all the principle of what they're doing works but it takes a very select set of conditions to make it work well and there still isn't a lot of research on how good it is for your lungs so it is was it is.

I used an ozonics machine in my ground blind for much of a deer season once and the smell of that shit made me cough. Yuck

Snake oil?
As stated by others it is not Snake Oil. It has been scientifically proven and ozone is used in many commercial and industrial applications for the same reasons - scent or organic killers.

If you understand how it works, you will be able to better apply it to the hunting situation. Just read the wiki page on Ozone Gas. That explains things pretty well.

An air tight blind (except for shooting window) would be the ideal set up for Ozonics. But also know it could come at a cost of some health risks because the same chemistry that happens with ozone and the scent causing particles will happen with ozone inside your respiratory system.

My buddy used to use an ozone air purifier in his house. I thought it smelled a little like bleach every time I walked into his house. Not a fan of the ozone smell at all.
