You can get 450 ft/lbs of torque with a 6.2 GM and still knock 20 mpg down the highway. Just sayin...

Sure, all you have to do is swallow hard enough to stomach socialized losses and privatized profit.

Here is a grocery getter for sale for those of you making up for a small wang. 5.9 cummins, Allison auto, ford body.

https://www.bismanonline.com/bismarck_nd/ford_f_650_super_truck

2 more doors, add driveline to the front, subtract one drive wheel from each rear corner and you'd have something.

Power wise It isn't so much the weight that your pulling as it is the wind resistance , I can haul tractors at speed limit in overdrive without a problem with my 5.0 ford but hook it up to my 14' V nose enclosed trailer that is light as a feather on a windy day and I can't run in OD.

Yep. My 14' snowmobile trailer with my ATV/2-man flip-over on one side and a snomobile/flip-over house on the other side pulls harder (uses more fuel) than towing my 18.5' glass boat. Lots of wind resistance hung outside the width of the pickup.

Spring is coming and today is St Urhos day. The parade starts at 2:00 and the Irish will be part of it.
I see my 97 dodge is starting to take its wrap off after a long winter for the spring. I am sure it will want the doors open so it can cruise the streets this afternoon in the hopes of finding some new memories. db

In my youth IHC was the king of pickups. My first pickup was a 1953 110 IHC red in color. Given to me as that was what it was worth. 5 of the cylinder had a compressor of around 50 with one at 15. The back brakes were gone as the shoes had gone through the drums. My fan belt broke and I found a rope in the barn for the belt which did last for some time. And with all that in 74 it took my wife, me and our first born as a baby on a 600 miles trip in one day to a new job. Could not shut it off as it would not start again until it had cool off.
All brands like people have their good and bad.
But the corn binder at one time was on top.
Mine now has retire and now rest in the pasture with a few bullet holes in it. Damn db

Yes but then that's living in small town USA. Also lacks insurance as it is only cover for sitting in the shed. So I better find out what it wants to do as I will need to take care of a few things if it wants out. db

You can buy a Dodge diesel crew cab leathered out Laramie for the same price or less than a GM 1/2 ton 6.2 High country.

I guess if I was going to spend that kind of coin for a truck to pull I'd get the rig with twice the pulling power and the 100,000 mile warranty.

Been in the 6.2 and they are no doubt impressive for a gas rig both pulling and milage I agree. But I'd much rather pull the train down the road with the big diesel myself.

I'm looking at a 6.2 GMC with all the bells and whistles for 5g's less than that Dodge. FYI

The 6.2 GM is a nice motor. It would be nice if GM would sell the 6.2 in the LT package. 6.2 in the higher trim models makes it too expensive for Me. I believe the 6.2 requires premium fuel. Not sure tho.

Meant higher ratios 3:70 etc. 4:30 only is just plain stupid.

You realize the final drive ratios due to the differences in transmission gearing are very similar in the end on most of these trucks regardless of manufacturer. The 4.30 really helps on the low end though.

My neighbors new ecodiesel motor blew up on him...

Let me guess, the timing gear came off the end of the camshaft?

They used to. I had a 2011 GMC with cloth and the 6.2. Payed $33,000 for that one back in the day. I wish they still offered that as well.
