I'm not sure where I'm at anymore on banning this breed. I used to be in the camp of it not the breed so much as how they were raised. You know the drug dealer types that brutalize their dogs so that they pretty much turn into killers if they are sicced on someone. And that those raised like a normal dog have good temperments. How ever after awhile its hard to ignore the news stories nation wide of them going nuts on someone after they get loose from their yard. One story the pit was latched onto a childs arm. No matter how hard the cops beat the dog after they arrived on the scene it would not release its bite. They had to shoot it off the kids arm. Imagine what a kid would go through after dealing with that. Just recently there was a story in news of a families pit bull killed their own two young children. This dog had never before shown any aggressive behavior before. In some of these dogs its almost like a light switch goes off in their head and God knows what triggers them to go off.
Yes but those PITS are nice little fur babies - till they are not!

I used to think the same thing, until a first hand experience prompted me to do some more research, which clearly revealed that in many instances these (dogs from good environments) flip out and kill or maim for little to no reason...

I know this thread is about pit bull attacks................. but.

Lycan, what are you pointing out with the above graph?

From your perspective please tell me what you think it means.
Ill tell you what I think its not, and that is system racism or bias by our judicial system. While this may play a small role in skewing the numbers, it is not nearly enough to account for a small population committing such a large amount of violent crimes and murders.

Pitbull killed a dog and bit a woman yesterday in GF. Police ended up shooting and killing the pitbull. Good riddance.

Given the choice I would prefer to never have to interact with a Staffordshire Terrier for the rest of my life.

Is he telling the truth

Are they really that scary

bunch of bullshit, you could put a cute hat on a king cobra also... Just cuz you can find a few dogs of a breed that arent dangerous at a specific moment, doesnt mean the breed overall isnt.

Dog bite misinformation, hes saying the dogs are 'misidentified', but what the pro pitt people consider a pittbull is ONLY an AKC REGISTERED pittbull. Many people that own pitts are poor or trashy and arent going to spend the money for a registered dog of any breed. Even if they bite less than a nippy small breed, they cause way more damage when they bite, and also kill way more people than any other breed. Most people consider unregistered and mixed breed pittbulls to be pittbulls, and they are also dangerous and bite and kill people. My neighbor directly behind me has a dog that they call a 'lab', but it looks and acts like a pittbull, so Im calling bullshit on that. Maybe its half lab, but the way it is aggressive and barks and looks, im calling it a pitt.

No educated person thinks any dogs jaws "lock" so maybe that statement is true, but I dont think thats a misconception except among the very ignorant.

Just because their bite strenght isnt more than a few other large breeds they have superior neck strength and tenacity, they simply will not let go when attacking. There are many videos online that show this and ive witnessed it myself when my dog was attacked by a pitt about a decade ago.

If pitts are "less aggressive" than many other breeds, why do they attack and kill many more people than ANY other breed, the data is not even close, pitts consistently kill 70+ percent of people killed by dogs annually in the US. I think "less aggressive" is a loaded term, maybe they are tolerant of being harassed more than some breeds, but when they quit being tolerant, they are much more likely to kill you than any other breed also.

Like I said before and I will say it again until you hold the dog owners responsible for their dogs actions nothing will change and lumping all dogs under pit bull 4 breeds is statistically ignorant breeds that are not know to attack humans. Not all big muscular pit bull type dog breeds are vicious

Hold pet owners responsible for their dogs actions it's really that simple
