Poor Smelts - Water warming up to quickly

Seen a bunch of dead smelt floating on top of the water from Skunk Bay to the North end of Van Hook. Hopefully it does not get to bad. A lot of full sea gulls out there right now.

Normal, its a virus or bacteria they get that kills off a handfull of them when they get really heavily populated.

It may make the eyes more hungry, the east end is where some baitfish need to die off, marked bait 24/7 down there and fish wanted nothing to do with lures.

Yeah there were dead smelt everywhere from McKenzie to skunk. Even the seagulls and pelicans were full and just didn’t seem to care anymore about the thousands of easy meals. Walleye were jam packed with smelt as well.
